The title says most of what I'm asking.
I need some perspectives.
I'm considering getting a Knight paladin for my Minotaurs space marine army.
which is cool.
but my nurgle army needs love too.
so I'm thinking of picking up two more daemon princes.
spam is fun and all.
but I feel torn.
So?
what are your guys opinion on how to divide 200 bucks? for either army.

The new knight is dropping real soon. I say hold fire.

Continue holding fire. If you haven't built a knight yet, you need the experience, they're a joy to put together. Painting not so much

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

It wouldn´t be sensible to buy one IK. They are just too expensive. You should wait for the arrival of the codex. According to rumours, the box set IKR containing two IK & terrain will be made available once again for a short period of time. Buy this box and save a lot of bucks.

When/if you do buy one, I'd advise against the Paladin too. It's one of the worst variants currently (other than the dual melee weapon Gallant) simply because the Rapid Fire Battle Cannon is soundly outclassed by both the Avenger and the Thermal cannon.

If it were me, and I was buying a single Knight as a LoW support unit for an army right now, I'd get a Crusader. Magnetise the weapons to get the most out of the kit and enjoy!

General rule with the Knight is that it looks good, and makes for a really cool centerpiece but for most standard size games its not durable enough and doesn't have enough firepower for its cost.

It puts too many eggs in one basket and once it goes down your army is crippled. Its a bit better in really small games, or larger games where you can still afford a lot of other units that would benefit from the Knight seizing attention.

Daemon Princes are really good at any point level for Chaos Marines. They aren't too expensive at 180 points, give you a psychic power and a deny, and are much superior to a chaos lord in close combat. Of course running 3 Daemon Princes may be a bit much...

I guess it depends on if you want a cool unit, or are looking to streamline and improve your existing armies.

This is all true, though I agree with the others on holding fire until the codex drops, in case the points for knights drops and they become more competitive.

Personally, I wouldn't touch a knight with a barge pole. Just my opinion.

I prefer more 'boots on ground'.

But as others have rightly stated, hang fire until the knight codex is out.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

I’m in the mood to play 40k BattleTech, so an all Knight list sounds fun.

Of course, no one wants to play against an all Knight list. Sad face.

I own an Eldar Knight and an Imperial Knight - get one! They look great on the tabletop!

I have had a lot of fun converting a knight for my Death Guard army.
Just need to finish painting the thing!

You know I would! And so would my gaming club - in fact there are two people with knight households and me with my baneblade coy. Your group sound unfun, at least for me.

The upcoming codex will hopefully make them worthwhile under 8th but presently they are brought low far too easily and don't have enough decent firepower for their points.

40k: Space Marines (Rift Wardens) - 8050pts.
T9A: Vampire Covenants 2060pts.

Buy a knight and magnetize the weapon options. Odds are rules for renegade knights are in the new codex and you can play with either army. Paint the knight accordingly to match both themes you can even buy a few chaps inspired add one to magnetize such as face plates and shields to make it blend in with your chaos army more. It’s a fun model to put together and magnetizing was easy too.

They need quite a bit of love if they're going to be a valid option again.

Leaks on the new codex have it as no Renegade datasheet, just the 10 Imperial datasheets.

So, I never play it, but i have a knight. They look awesome, and they're fun to build and paint. I'd say just for modeling they're worth it.

I've played my Knights a few times. They were OK, but not amazing.
