Which way do you go? I used to do Agrax, but recently I've been doing Sepia on light brown/ dirty white, leather, and gold. I like the effect much better. Honestly, the more I paint the less agrax I use and the more I use either Nuln, Sepia, or a shade a darker color of the base.

Depends on the colour. I usually do a dark brown, shaded with Agrax Earthshade or Nuln Oil then highlighted with a mid brown.

On occasion I've gone with a medium reddish-brown, shaded with Carroburg Crimson and highlighted with an orange-ish red.

There is no context for your question. What is your basecoat color? What type of leather is it? Is the wash intended to be the final treatment on the color?

Depending on the desired final result, either is acceptable. For my personal preferences for worn leather, I'd actually use Agrax Earthshade and Athonian Camoshade (the only two I own). If I want a less stark brown and/or green, I usually just add water.

I agree with Andrew, both options are valid. Personally, I like my leather looking dark-ish, so I shade with Agrax.

The poll was meant to be mainly for fun and based on the types of leather you usually do. I usually aim for a warm mid-tone leather that looks like it's been tooled. I usually do the warm brown base coat, sepia, then highlight with base color again, and then edge with a light tan.

Sepia for me. I use agrax for metallics along with sepia, personally.
