I can't decide what to make for some anti-hordes, a contemptor with 2 c-beam cannons, or a trio of quad heavy bolter rapiers.

I like that a contemptor can benefit from legion traits ala the helbrute keyword plus some other stratagems, plus it hits well and is pretty durable, and could ride in my kharybdis or dreadclaw if the mood should strike me.

That said, the quad heavy bolters are pretty cheap, a few more wounds and still decent range, and a whole crapload of shots! 36 shots at max unit size.

Anyone use rapiers before? Seems like something they IVth legion would use quite a bit, though they would like to be a dreadnought too I imagine.

Rapiers are pretty awesome actually.

Math behind the C Beamer is solid but I hadn't used them at all.

I did a Mathhammer analysis last night looks like the quad bolters x3 is actually better vs T4 and T5 MEQ. The random shots deal (as in the Scorpius too) really kills the killiness.

Quad heavy bolters all the way.

Take all slaanesh, give a 5+ FNP, +1 to hit, +1 to wound, fire twice in a squad of 3 is 72 shots hitting on 2's, optimally rerolling 1's, wounding on 2's v T4 is gonna put out some serious pain. That's 3cp + 2 spells a turn but worth it.

Optimum mathhammer against marines:
70 hits
58.3 wounds
29.15 dmg.

Endless cacophony won't work on the rapier. Just its crew. Same with votl.
