After 146 combined pages both TLJ threads have been locked after racial slurs and other unpleasantries were used. The discussion across the active threads is all pretty similar.

Since Star Wars is apparently a very popular topic, would it make sense to condense everything into two threads? One for Solo and the other for everything else? Or will this storm die down until the IX trailer is revealed?

People have a lot to say about TLJ. But I think it's the release of Solo and announcements about other spin-offs that has kicked up so much SW interest on the board lately. It will probably die down in a week or two. If not, maybe a SW mega thread is the way to go.

The latter, pretty sure.

The mega thread idea would normally be OK but it would be a little problematic right now since there is a significant tonal shift between the thread with people who loved and hated TLJ, and the people who are doing that "star wars memories no one can take away from you" thread.

I don't think it's a good idea. Both TLJ topics were closed for a reason. The discussion surrounding that movie is incredibly toxic and divisive ( and yes, I am partially guilty of that). Star wars is a big thing ATM with solo coming out.

What do you expect, a movie has just come out and it’s the most popular franchise in the world... apart from marvel I think?

And? Is this a bad thing? Well, except admitting enjoyment of TLJ. I assume booze must have been involved. And lots of it.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Admitting enjoyment of TLJ isn't a bad thing When someone denies it has any flaws, that's the problem.

I saw TLJ thrice and bought the streaming.

Bumping this because yet another TLJ thread has been posted.

This topic is one of the most toxic I've ever seen on Dakka and is showing no sign of stopping...

If people want to talk about it, I don't think it's a problem until the chit-chat turns toxic.
