This weekend I watched Upgrade. This movie was pretty fantastic. Decent to good, sometimes great acting with some AMAZING cinematography and really fun action beats. I would put it in the same vein of movie as Equilibrium. Everyone who likes some fun action should give this movie a go.

Currently sitting at 86% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Hmmm. I was waiting for some word of mouth and an RT score since the trailer looked like it could go either way. I'm intrigued.

It's interesting; I'd think a statement seriously comparing Eldar players or Star Trek fans or middle-aged divorcees or what have you to ISIS would draw a hell of a lot of blowback and some sort of colored text, and yet here it is, barely remarked on.

The cinematography was the big break out for me. The way the camera moves in a good portion of the film is really innovative and adds a lot to the action on the screen. You get a small sampling of it in the trailers lil fight bit. It's much more.... robust? Pervasive? in the actual movie. More of it and used in some other more interesting ways.

I can't shake the feeling that everything worth seeing in the film was in the trailers all ready.

I heard that it was essentially a very solid grindhouse film. If you go expecting your mind to be blown you'll be disappointed but if you are looking for a violent, fun, rollercoaster that is what you will get.

Healing surges are for fools. Fools and liberals.

Calvin: I'm thinking of starting my own talk radio show. I'll spout simplistic opinions for hours on end, ridicule anyone who disagrees with me, and generally foster divisiveness, cynicism, and a lower level of public dialog!

Accurate.

Also no, not everything is in the trailers. They do a pretty good job of primarily showing you stuff from fairly early on. Also the plot makes a few twists and turns that i didnt see coming and were pretty good.

So kind of like Three O'Clock High?

Also, not sure this movie needs/deserves two threads:

Still, good to hear that it is at least an enjoyable movie!

I quite enjoyed it. It does a surprising amount of world building for such a small budget, and leaves a lot of story hooks for sequels or Sidequels. It reminds me of the first Terminator in that way. The action is enjoyable, with some interesting emotional stakes, especially near the end. The acting is solid, especially the lead.

If you've ever grumbled about studios only making sequels and reboots, here is a good, original movie for you to support. Just sit back, relinquish control, and enjoy the ride.

I wouldn't say that. There is at least one major plot twist that you think you see coming a mile away that they end up putting an interesting enough spin on to make it worthwhile.
