Subject: Choose which forums appear in Recent Topics
Questions like these have asked before (hiding subforums etc) and the answer has always been that per-user display sorting is too database intensive. That may have since changed but that's where it's always landed previously.

It's really not that hard to do. Just kind of pointlessly time consuming.
