CaptainWaffle is ready to commit to new seas. After being a lurker of forums, I've decided to join the best one that suits me. Dakka truly is a great place, and I enjoy the many hobby blogs, articles, discussions, and all the other things. Keep being Dakka.

My primary reason for joining rather than creeping in an air duct is to create my own hobby blog. I began wargames in a serious fashion over fifteen years ago, but dropped it a few years after due to life. I painted here and there, though, and for some reason people I know would see me paint and give me their old armies even though I didn't actively play again until around a year ago. I have a lot of miniatures of all sorts of 40k and AoS armies to paint and wargame with. Expect to see some soon.

What other forums did you consider and review?

Curious if there's another one out there that's OK that I'm unaware of...

And, of course, welcome to this one!

I used "forum" quite loosely to refer to any sort of communicating medium. Many folks seem to check the big ones, like Dakka and TGA and have their small circles on social media or side topic areas on other forums that don't have the same focus as Dakka. I've been lurking on and off for a few years now, and I haven't found anything outside those options.

Dakka's robust community, easy format (especially for tracking hobby blogs), and mature but relaxed moderation without extensive handholding are what drew me here. Sure, there are always exceptions to these quality points, but overall this is the best place that treats us all as willing and able adults with differing (and similar) ideas that share a big interest. No other place is like that. It feels like I'm in a good game store with great history here.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome aboard cap'n!

What can we expect on your blog in the near future?

Don't forget to post a link here when you get it up and running too.

I didn't even think of doing that. Thanks for the tip. I already started it: CaptainWaffle's Shipyard. There are a few items up now, and I'm trying to figure out my image-taking strategies.

My main force is Eldar, but I have a varied collection besides elves. Sometimes I take a break from painting them to paint and wargame with something else. Soon I'll break out my Sisters of Battle and their accompanying Imperial Guard troops to figure out what to do with them.

Thank you all for your warm welcome.
