Hi, I played a little AoS when it first came out and was looking at getting back into it again. I've been playing a lot of 40k and was wondering if I could make a decent list with the models I already have (just need the Glotkin). Is this list even legal?

Is there some mission or game mechanic that will punish this list hard? Which Nurgle Daemon units are the best right now, Drones?

Blightkings, Harbingers, all of the “Lords of”, Poxbringers(with Plaguebearers), Drones(though I personally have never seen them get even close to making their points back), Glottkin, GUOs (as long as you understand their role), and a few odds and ends(Chaos Hounds for instance) are all top shelf Nurgle people. I would avoid Beasts, the Maggoth Lords (brilliant kit though), mortal sorcerers, Marauders(now minimum 20), Plague Monks, the named Heralds, Slimux and Pusgoyle Blightlords at all costs.

It's all up in the air due to the edition change and potential point changes. Some stuff that was formerly bad (Slimux, Epidemius) is now worthwhile because of free summoning, while other things may potentially be getting point changes.

The list you have is reasonably good and as long as you aren't in a competitive setting you should do fine.

As mentioned above, some of this has changed. But Bloab, Rotbringer Sorcerers, Marauders, Plague Monks, and Pusgoyles are/were reasonably good. Plague monks in particular have shown up in high-placing tournament lists so I'm not sure where you are getting that they are bad.

Plague monks are most definitely not bad.

Pusgoyles suffer from being so expensive. They are great but not when you are paying the points you are paying for them (IMO).

Iv'e also seen marauders used to great effect and the rotbringer sorcerers.

I think pusgoyles are honestly a 200 point unit, while (new warscroll) drones are the 220 point unit. So while pusgoyles are only little overcosted and drones a little undercosted, that adds up to a 40-point swing. Given the units more or less do the same thing...

Note that drones are 3 models for their cost and pusgoyles 2 models for their cost (unless I'm missing an FAQ)

They are roughly 110 points a model right now. Thats absurd IMO.

Well it's 15 wounds at a 5+/5+ vs 14 wounds at a 4+/5+.

I might be missing something. You're right the wounds are about close. Squeezing in two is difficult and even then they rarely do much for me. I'd be ok with them being 200 points, though they'd be a unit I only take when I know I must have some speed.

With the change to unbind distance not only do you need a 7 to cast Blades but you have to eat an unbind as well.

Monks were okay in 1.0, a lot is about to change. For instance your battleline tax is going up so fitting the monks and their support into a list will be trickier,

Summoning isn’t going to be that big a deal with Nurgle I imagine. All of the truely hard hitting Simmons we have won’t see the table fast enough to actually affect the game much. Some 11th hour plaguebearers to muck up objective math aside it is probably going to be lame blocking beasts if I had to guess.

Pusgoyle can take advantage of Harbingers, Shrines and other “mortal” triggers but 110 points a pop puts them solidly in the “case bait” category for me, more power if you like them though.

I've played using the new summoning (at 2k points) several times at this point, both with and without the Horty battalion, and it really is pretty balanced. The benefits feel appropriate given that half the allegiance abilities are given over to it. The once exception is the exalted guo costing only 30 and the issue of scaling at lower point costs.

Also, pusgoyles can go into a plaguetouched warband so can be -1 to hit in combat for, essentially, “an extra 20 points.” (160/8units)
