Hey Guys,

First crack after taking a 5 year break from the game. I used to play Eldar back in the day and fell in love with the new Thousand Sons models. Here is the list, I figured I could bring demons in from deep strike or use the crystal or warptime to shoot them across the board, hitting important units with the tzaangors, prince and mvb while getting buffs / smites from ahriman and shaman. Dakka fiends sitting back for support while the slow rubric marines work their way up to clean up / supply supportive fire.

Haven't decided on psychic powers or Relic items yet as I am not sure how that happens really, going to have to dig into that there.

Made a lot of my decisions based on the 1d4chan tactics as the tactics threads available here are bloated to hell. Happy to hear ideas, criticisms etc.

Also I thought I would be able to take a renegade knight? at least on the HQ list builder site I was not able to take one under the auxiliary heavey detachment, let me know if it's possible to get one in here, I would take either the knight or Magnus to pump the list to 2k points.

Shameless bump.

I've been thinking about the list and I think maybe the enlightened, shaman, and MVB are a bit too melee centric to be competitive?

I'm not sure, anyone ran anything similar and had success?

I was thinking instead of the MVB, enlightened, and shaman I could flesh out the tzaangor units and maybe fit in a defiler or a pred + heldrake.

Or should I just invest in more Rubirc marines?

Thoughts?

Hey man, I just recently returned from a decent 40k break too and mostly play Daemons so I might be a little biased that way. Shooting heavy lists definitely seem to have the edge at the moment. You should consider 3xunits of horrors a Daemon Prince and Herald as an option for the batallion. It's relativly cheap and I think it would do a better job than the Tzangors at shielding your heavy support and Arhiman.
The Daemon Prince could still work with your Forgfiends (I think). If not you could add in a cheap chaos lord.
You may still have enough points for some seriois firepower (landraider

Thanks for the feedback, yea I think the tzaangors are a bit fragile but I really like the idea of popping out a melee hoard right next to a firing line to scare the crap out of people.

I made some tweaks tho, happy to hear feedback on the new list:

Yeah looks good, only problem with forgfiends is that you have to keep Daemon Prince back to keep them shooting at a half decent lick. If you could find the 74 points for a chaos lord you can let your daemon prince follow in your troops and make a spearhead detachment for that extra CP?
A big blob of Tzengors will definately work well if you give them diaboloc strength and use warptime to get them up close and personal.

is a 4+ really that bad? I thought the # of shots would offset and make them better than predators.

Okay I think this may be it, Taking what you said I made room for the spearhead.

There was another list posted recently and I saw that they had smaller squads of rubrics to spam smite so I broke out the rubric marines into extra smaller squads to be able to smite more.

So the sorcerer in the spearhead can babysit the fiends giving them the reroll 1's to hit while the rest of the battalion can do their thing.

Thoughts?

Yeah looks good to me. Always can do with that extra CP!
4+ can be ok if you're on a good rolling day but playing with my soulgrinder has taught me that on a bad day you can miss pretty much everything.
Sorcerer looks really useful he can buff up those forgfiends with prescience etc. And now you've got the biggest blob of Tzangors really get some board control when you warptime them forward.

After doing a lot more research on the forum I saw that lots of people were super down on breaking out the rubrics. Almost everyone suggests cultists and just bringing magnus.

This new list take that all into consideration. Looking for feedback on how the best way to kit out the cultists and any other tips.

I wouldn't let the forums dictate what you run. If you want to run rubrics, do it. They are fine. Maybe not the strongest of things, but definitely playable. Also, your new list is completely different. Which may be fine, but I would look toward playing what you are enjoying unless you are aiming for some high-level tourney.

Thanks for the response, I do really like to be competitive and have a take all comers type of approach, also want to buy just what is necessary.

If I had the time I would just proxy the stuff and see what I had the most fun with but I dont really have the ability to do that either so I guess I am just looking for what works best right out the gate.

With that being said do you have feedback on the list?
