I had some time today so I added a combi-Plasma conversion onto my Chaos Rhino. However, once I glued everything on, I realized that RAW, an over-charging combi-plasma that rolls a 1 kills the model. Does that mean if my Rhino's combi-plasma ever overcharges and rolls a 1 that my entire tank would be reduced to a smouldering pile of ash?

Thanks!

Yup! And, in the "it's not a bug, it's a feature" vein, there are even some Chaos players that have used this to make Turn 1 charges happen. Load up that Rhino with Bezerkers, go forward, and try to suffer as many -1 penalties as you can. Then, when you blow up, your guys can deploy within 3 inches of the Rhino as they get out, getting you in range for some surprise charges!

If it doesn't have any rule saying it takes only X amount of mortal wounds(Like leman Russes). Then yes, it is treated like any other model. So indeed a 1 on an overcharge will remove the rhino from play

On another note. Didn't know that was actually a thing, making your rhino get as many penalties as possible, maxing out it's movement and then "Bailing out" the unit so they can charge, was a thing. Sounds rather neat if you ask me

Yes, that is exactly right. What's even better is that the unit inside can now charge! Rush up with Rhinos, fire Plasma, Rhino Dies, Zerkers Pop Out, NomNomNom.

Honestly, if I was playing that, I would agree with my opponent and make it so it just makes a mortal wound. It's just dumb if it kills it off
