Hey Folks,

I'm after some thoughts on this Death Company heavy list. I don't think it's too strong but I'm hoping that it is at least mid-range. I'm open to suggestions though...

Anyway, the plan is to have the JP DC deep strike in and charge whilst everyone else hangs out in the Storm Raven. With any luck the big death company unit with Lemartes will tie up some enemies to limit shooting, then the storm raven will drop off the smaller unit with backup from the priest and librarian where they are needed. The tac squad is just to add a little bit of versatility whilst also filling a troop slot requirement.

The scouts are essentially to prevent deep strikers from getting at my Storm Raven first turn. I've given 5 of them sniper rifles so that they can actually do something if I get first turn, hopefully it will make them a target and they can get shot instead of somebody else.

You need a captn slamguinius. Its a must have in every BA list. Why a chaplain if you have lemartes ?

One for each unit of Death Company... maybe I'm stuck in the past when they were a must have for DC units. Reckon I should swap him out for a Captain?

You dont need a chaplain if you have lemartes. Exchange him for a captn with JP and TH, you need to free up some points for him. You can make the captn DC with death visions of sanguinius, getting buffs from lemartes as well. A full blown up captn slamguinius has the potential to do 72 points of damage (in theory) in one turn, for 114 pts. He can kill pretty much anything.

I see, could you please walk me through the exact Loadout for this 'Super Captain', He seems very powerful. Do I give him the relic hammer?

Taking away the chaplain leaves the guys on foot without a re roll buff though. I'm worried I'd be leaving the second striking force a bit impotent.

Thanks for taking the time to help out.

There are many different loadouts for captn slamguinius. Basic stuff is JP and TH. You can give him angels wings, which lets you re-roll failed charges and your opponent cant overwatch. After that you can charge with DC, and your opponent cannot overwatch because the captain is already within 1". The relic hammer lets you hit on 2s. Some give him a SS for a 3+ invuln sv. He can be buffed by a librarian with unleash rage, you can play red rampage on him for 1D3 additional attacks. When you make him your warlord with gift of foresight he gets a 6+ FNP, which is buffed to 5+ by death visions of sanguinius, which also makes him DC. When he is close to lemartes he can re-roll all failed hit rolls and charges, because he is now DC. You can give him the artisan of war warlord trait to give him 4 damage per hit with the TH. Many, many, possibilities. When you attack you can play the 3 CP honour the chapter stratagem to fight again at the end of the fight phase, or play the 2 CP only in death does duty end stratagem when he dies to fight again before removing him.

In your thread, trolling.

Your Librarian is taking a Force Sword and Gallian's Staff?

Please proof read your lists before you post them. Clean out the useless gunk that Battle Scribe throws in. Don't just copy paste, it's lazy.

I'll do better next time, thanks for the constructive feedback.

Sprinkle some fist/inferno pistol DCs in there.

I only have one dude with a powerfist modelled, but I'll stick him in. I'll write up and post a new list this afternoon. I'm still unsure what to do with the guys on foot, I have to cut either the chaplain or the librarian if I'm to fit a jump pack captain in...

I'm not spoiled for choice with death company loadout, this is all of the special weapons that I have.

Cheers,

Ash.

Hahahaha.

The points you're using on that Sniper Rifle for your Scout Sergeant could go toward something better imo. What exactly? I don't know.

I think you might be limiting your play ability of this army by having only two highly mobile blobs (the 11 DC w/ JP flanking with Lemartes and Captain Smashy, and the 6 DC with the Chaplain and DC Dread in the Stormraven). Though both of those blobs are extremely dangerous, it puts a good majority of your eggs into two very delicate baskets. It will be a fun list because of the high risk/reward, but I think there needs to be a little more finesse.

Yeah, my Blood Angels lists always seem to suffer from glass cannon syndrome. Should I get rid of some Death Company and replace them with something else? Or swap out the dreadnought?

I've swapped the sniper rifle for a power sword on the priest. Cheers for taking the time to help out.

Cut the chaplain, lemartes already gives you failed hit re-rolls in the fight phase, and re-roll failed charge rolls. Dont remove the DC dread, its a good choice.

Lemartes can't be everywhere. The chaplain is there to provide his buff to the second unit of death company. Besides I need the hq slot, so if I was to remove him I would still have to replace him with a different hq choice.

Since the Raven has the melta option it will be targeted quickly so deliver the payload asap.

The chaplain can stay but if he goes with the smaller blob--move the weapons around so that the chaplain can kick some ass. Give him the inferno pistol.

Random idea: if the chap was going to be in Raven, take a tech marine instead to keep the gunship up longer, worst case scenario the tech bails before crash and his servo arm+red thirst suddenly makes the unit that shot down the flyer rethink their life decisions.

Surely the Techmarine can't do much to help the Raven if he's embarked within it? I don't have a Chaplain model with an inferno pistol, so I'd have to do some remodeling...

My hope would be to have all units in combat by turn 2 or 3

I had 2 games against Orks today. The list performed really well but everything hinged heavily on the Storm Raven surviving the first turn. I was lucky as I went first in both games and was able to weather the shooting directed at my flyer for a turn before it dropped off its lethal payload. I doubt I would be anywhere near as successful against an army with more effective shooting.

The Captain can really deal some damage but I don't really have the command points to use him effectively for more than a turn.

I found the Sanguinary Priest to be awesome, stacking +1 Strength with +1 to wound rolls is fantastic! He will be a priority target for the Orks in future battles methinks.

Thanks all for the helpful suggestions

Ash.
