Hey, this is my first post on Dakka, just thought I would branch out to other forums for a bit but I have been playing WMH since the game came out.

Who else is excited about Crucible Guard? I am getting the full faction, the steampunk and alchemy vibes are really getting me excited.

I'm mostly curious to see if the new models are any good, after the frankly gakky 3rd Ed starters and some spectacularly awful plastic redo's boxs I'm not holding my breath

Interesting. The starter boxes are a damned if you do type of situation. The models in them are lower quality so that the starter set can be at such a low price point. An ironclad from the starter is not the same thing as an ironclad from a kit.

My plastic farrow, trenchers, and skorne have been great for what I bought last couple years. Much better than the first run resins for sure.

I think thats another PP quirk, the uneven quality as the Circle Reeves/Wolves plastics box is barely a step above boardgame mini level and quite a way below the older metal version

but back on topic I think they'll fit in more than the Gyrmkin, which was an interesting idea but felt a tad misplaced

A big part of the reason the MK3 battleboxes aren't great models is just because outside of the caster, all the models in it are the same as the MK2 battleboxes, which were PP's first gen restic.

That isn't true at all. In fact I can't think of 1 battle box that is the same outside of the caster. There are a couple that only changed 1 model, and several that changed most.

They’re all using the same molds. Khador swapped out a destroyer for a decimator but both of those sculpts were made for the same kit at the start of mk2. Same is true of the rest. They’re all models made during the restic phase from the start of mk2

I'll freely admit that the only one that I'm interested in is Locke, and that is because my primary force is COC.

Once upon a time Crucible Guard would have totally been my thing. They sit in that Khador/Merc kind of rough tech space I really enjoy... with jetpacks. I'm trying not to buy new factions these days though, as the little one makes it hard to keep up, so I'm mustering up what I can to pass on this one.

They are so up my ally. The Vulcan is going to be at L&L and I hopefully have a ninja lined up. The rest of the faction is coming on street release. I am pretty stoked.

The World War pulp aesthetics are really striking.

I would if I didn't have a bunch of Mercenaries that I can't get rid of and had an income to support a third army.

I am in, really liking the look. To bad likely won't work with my Khador.

Eastern Frontier Exploratores
224th Astra Legion (main army)
628th Praetorian Guard Cohort (wife's army)
827th Auxilia Cohort (ad mech fun)
825th Foderati Cohort (in the beginning army)
1212th Foederati Cohort - Jokaero (cause I like apes with guns)

They're not mercenaries. They don't work with anyone.

I love the models but the game has sort of died in my neck of the woods. Plus like everyone I've had my horror stories with PP models. And the limited release factions can feel a bit stale compared with the admittedly overwhelming options of the main factions, especially in Warmachine.

Right now it's a nice to look at thing unless I can sell one of my unbuilt armies and justify it.
