anyone good at making custom decal sheets willing to help someone out? I admit it's outside my area of expertise and could use a hand.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I mean I'm just hoping to get a few rows suitable for marine shoulder pads of this image I'm not sure on the precise size each would have to be for a marine shoulder pad size etc.

Flinty, what do you use as a topcoat to seal the decals? I've tried once using Hycote Clear Laquer but it was a disaster. Too thick to curve the decal and microsol didn't help. Maybe I sprayed too thick or maybe it was the formula (lacquer may be too strong).

I haven't perfected that part yet to be honest.
I've put humbrol paint on gloss.varnish then a layer of Matt, but it's.still.pretty.shiny at the right angle.
Because I'm just doing scenery I don't mind that much, but would be keen to.mearn from any decal experts out there on how to seal.without the shine

Use the Testors decal spray VERY LIGHTLY! I have used basic clear acrylic and it does tend to make the decals a bit stiff, but still useable - just go very lightly.
Also, you cannot overwork the decal too much, just treat it like a fine lady and it will work fine. I have made custom decals for items that actually worked better than the decals that came with the kit. Once the decal is on, then just go over with a clear matte acrylic and brush on really lightly - this sets the decal on the model as well as removing the annoying shine. I use mostly the Testors brands, just since they are easy to get for me.

But great advice, cheers. I’ll look into Testors decal spray.
