I really want to redo my bases like this dude's and chuck on the red leaves for my Celestial Vindicators Stormcast, but I can't seem to find any that are so richly red. Anyone know where I can get something similar from?

I was actually reading that thread yesterday - but can't find it now - and IIRC he used actual autumn/fall leaves as material and cut them out using a "leaf punch" tool. I'm assuming something like the ones shown in the link:

Google images for "leaf punch"

Ah damn, surely that’ll rot over a few days. That’s a shame because I love how rich the colours are. He’s done another with really red grass tufts as well and it looks delicious but those don’t seem to excise either

Gel nail supplies actually have tiny little flowers & leaves. Those might be worth checking out.

Don't use the leaf puncher on actual leafs but instead buy a thin metal foil. That way no organic material that could degrade (under a layer of primer and varnish).

The creator used dried leaves, though, so rot isn't an issue. After a sealant (varnish) they should hold.

The leaf punch is from greenstuffworld. Instead of dried leaves, you could print an array of colors/print one of the many leaf color pallettes from the internet (try a search) and punch those out. I've done that and it works well.

Those are some great ideas. I might go with the paper idea. My only concern with that is whether they'll look flat and like coloured paper or if they'll fit in well. But it probably wouldn't take long to try out. Do you have any pics you could link? I'm quite interested because that would save my life if it works well

Green Stuff World also sells little tubs of actual leaves... not sure what plant it is, but the scale is perfect. They seem to hold up well, and the company ships promptly and makes other really cool stuff. Here's their leaves on my bases.

If you just want quick and easy leaves to put down you can find them here:

I've never gone direct through this company but my FLGS has their stuff in stock and I highly recommend it.

It's how I did this guy's base:

And I used some on this one as well, but something else I used on this which I thought sounded strange but liked in the end was going through a packet of loose tobacco with tweezers for foliage (I think that's what you'd call it, cigarette filling from the bags you use to make your own not showing tobacco if those are different). They probably work better for mushrooms and the like but I liked the combined effect:

The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Unfortunately none of the leaves I can find to buy are as red/orange as I’d like, but I may just have to settle for more realistic ones

So paint them like you want them to be.

You could take the more yellow ones and drybrush, wash, or glaze them red/orange too.

Hmm that's a good idea, glazing them might work a treat actually.

Thanks everyone for the really good suggestions. I'll try punching out coloured paper, and glazing bought ones and see which I prefer.

Really appreciate the help
