The Khorne Bloodbound box costs 245 Canadian...The Slaughterstorm set is 200 Canadian, yet comes with all the same models except one extra hero model. What even is going on there?

I think the Battleforce boxes were supposed to be Christmas only limited runs, but looks like they sold well enough to keep them?

Old stock. It takes a lot for stuff to just flatout be removed from GW--notably that they sell out of it.

The Bloodbound expansion set came first--way first. The "Age of Sigmar Expansion" sets were released before the battleforces came out and it's basically just old stock being run down at the moment.

That still doesn't explain why for 45 bucks less you get an additional hero model

Yes, it really does.

The Battleforces started rolling out after GW had a change in "who's at the top". The "expansions" were done during the Kirby-era, with 4 of them across the two systems. Each one tied in to the starter set for the time. They priced them high but still discounted contents.

Battleforces are a thing we started seeing under Roundtree as Christmas bundles, where someone can start an army from scratch with them at a flat price for all the battleforces. Some of them are better values than others, but they're not regular stock products. When they're gone--they're gone.

Comparing the two is like comparing an old battleforce/battalion to a Start Collecting set today. The old ones sometimes could make you an army, but the SCs for AoS all can thanks to the addition of Warscroll Battalions.

Aaah, okay. So the webstore one is literally supposed to be a solid deal, while the christmas one is just sort of value, but meant to be Christmas impulse and easy to gift wrap.

Khorne Bloodbound Expansion Set

This box is discontinued. It has been for almost 2 years. However, it is still listed as they have stock of them. It wasn't moving too well even before the Battleforce came out as most of the contents could be obtained from the AoS starter set at a more reasonable price---which is amusing since the Expansion was meant to (obviously) expand someone who started with the AoS starter. The price on this box was also artificially inflated by the addition of a second set of the Skullreapers, a $57 for 5 kit.

Slaughterstorm

This set came later, was $160USD and a Christmas time item. It was an army in a box, with a fairly hefty savings. It also was, at the time of its introduction, one of two ways to get 3 Mighty Skullcrushers(as they got reboxed to be sets of 6 for $100USD from their earlier 3 for $60 or $70USD)--the other way to do so was a Start Collecting set.

When it was discontinued, the Khorne Expansion set likely got recalled by GW to being effectively webstore only.
