I want to try the 40 alpha legion cultist bomb but i have some problem figuring out how its working.

Patrol Alpha legion

Jump chaos sorcerer for prescience and delight agony
40 cultists to use Forward operatives and Veteran of the long war + endless cacophony?

I dont know what do in fact, keep them far away and cast 2cps tide of traitor or directly forward operatives, but there is not a risk if you dont have the T2?

And the cost, its like 5cp +2cp for auto morale pass ..

What is the best way to use them?

Ive moved on to using Daemons more than Cultists, but I did play a tourny with the AL Cultist Bomb. I used them just for the shock factor alone. For deployment I would place them last, to decide whether to Forward Operative them or not. If theres no good place to deploy them, hide them in the back and Tide of traitors re-spawn them closer that way.

I dont use Jump Sorcerers though, and just drop a basic Jump Lord instead. I rather get a guaranteed reroll than risk a failed or denied psychic power. I keep him dirt cheap with just a Chainsword and take the Blade of the Hydra relic! Then its the Endless Cacophony, VOTLW combo.

Of course, the mob of cultists is just a big tarpit/screen to keep my own elite heavy hitters from getting caught in a similar situation. If they manage to actually hurt/kill something even better.

If you really want to run cultists, I would recommend 2 40 man slaaneshi units with Abaddon to make them fearless. They can be alpha legion to allow the cultists to infiltrate.

You give up the re-rolls and the -1 to hit, but the infiltrate and fearless are more important than either of those things.

2 CP to infiltrate both squads. VOLTW. Prescience. Double Fire. Profit.

Don't forget that instead of relying on a Turn 2 drop from a Chaos Lord or Sorcerer, they are both infantry so they both also benefit from the "Forward Operatives" stratagem. If you've got Command Points to spare, not a bad idea for a true Turn 1 Alpha Strike.

So you can wait to see if the ennemy get the t1 or goes second, deploy your cultist blob , and if you are first move and shoot normally after?

Forward Operatives has to be used before you know who has the first turn.

Which is why you can always use more cultists to screen your cultist blob screen that's screening your characters who are upgrading your cultist blob screen.
