Howdy,

I'm new to minitures and table top warfare. I played a very crude game about 10 years ago and wasn't real impressed. I was more impressed with the detail of the models and the storyline from the 41st Millenium. So long story short, I'm in it for the models and not necessarily the gameplay. However I am keen to play again at some stage at an entry level.

I have chosen to go with Steel Legion and have buying models left-right-and-centre as I am aware they are not being sold online anymore. So far I have:

3 x steel legion squads (10 man team)
1 x heavy Bolter team
1 x lieutenant with sword and bolter
1 x commissar Yarrick

Will post minitures in the gallery at some stage when I have finished with paint schemes. Thinking a non standard snow theme as I like the urban snow warfare setting.

Awesome! I started the same way. Realistically I've only played a few dozen games over the last 10-15 years, but I love the models. Anyways, welcome to the community! It can be a terrific resource!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Just added 3 x chimeras.

Does any have a link to a HQ or command squad conversion thread?

I'm going for a standard colour scheme on blank bases. Haven't decided how to base the models yet.

Can omeone explain the Steel Legion regiments? The standard is the red thunderbolt on a white circle.

Cheers

I too am only in it for models. (For now anyway). But I imagine it's a slippery slope. Painting minis is the gateway to more time consuming and nerdier pursuits.........

So very true. I don't want to collect a squad or group that I can't play with in the future so I have ordered the codex to ensure that i am collecting a usable group. If you want to play there is a YouTube channel, miniwargaming.com . They have an 8 part series called "how to play 40k" if your interested.

What are you looking at collecting McBones?
