Just to confirm something, an HQ or Character can take a relic even if they aren't my Warlord? Because I want to equip a Daemon Prince with Supparating plate but the option only comes up when I make him my warlord in battlescribe.
Kind of dumb but yeah

Only your Warlord gets a free relic. For other characters you would need to use the appropriate stratagem.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

A CHARACTER with the same Faction keyword gets a free relic. It does not have to be your Warlord themself, or even in the same detachment as your Warlord.

So me putting Supperating plate on my Daemon prince but not on my warlord is fine?

Yes. BattleScribe is probably not giving you the option until you select your Warlord because only then will it know what Faction Character can have the free Relic.

People probably would if it wasn't so much more convenient than having to read through pages of Rulebooks, Indices, Codices, FAQs, Erratas, etc. in order to make an army to go out and actually play with.

True. The current valid rules are scattered everywhere.

Yeah that was a derp on my part. Shame on me for answering incorrectly when suffering from sleep deprivation.
