Something hit me while modeling. What if there was a product that was the glue equivalent to a Post-It note? It would be a mildly tacky adhesive so you could mock-up your models and align everything before permanently tacking it down? Of course, this would need to not interfere with any future adhesive you apply.

If this ever existed, would anyone buy it?

Most people use blu-tac for that (basically poster tack). It works pretty good for temporarily holding something together.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I've tried to use that. It's really thick though. I was thinking of something that is just a thin residue in an easy-application, fine-tip dispenser.

Stickum. The stuff used to attach stuff to other stuff (like card packets to magazines, etc).

It's tacky, but not permanent. Kinda like "love island".

I use poster tack for this right now. I’ll agree that sometimes the thickness is an issue. I’ve had finished models that were slightly off my my mock-up due to this issue

So I can see the use of a product like this.

But I would never buy it. The tack works well enough, and a couple of bucks gets you a reusable lifetime supply.

Best case scenario for things that might sway me to get a product like this::
Easy to switch to real glue. When the time comes to do the final glue, I don’t want to have to clean this stuff off. Best case, I just glue on top of it, and it doesn’t interfere with it. Heck, I might buy it for this feature alone. I hate holding super glued bits together hoping that they are going to stick. This would give one of the perks of plastic glue to super glue.
Cost: This is going to be hard to do. The alternative is cheep and reusable. So the price needs to be in the pocket change impulse buy range. $2-5 tops IMHO.
Hold strength: This is going to be a hard balance. How sticky do you want it? You need it to be able to hold stuff firmly in place, but don’t want to have to wrestle it off. An alternate use would be to hold stuff on sticks for painting or priming. I don’t know if you could get it strong enough to hold up to brush strokes, but if you could have it withstand the force of a rattle can, I would use this for priming small bits.

"stickum" peels right off.
Like little balls of sticky stuff.
