Multi-Meltas (for those that use them) are not the easiest things to find any more.

The only boxes for space marines that have them are Sternguard (pricey) and Devastator Marines. Who you wouldn't be using multi-melta with anyway usually

So here's a solution for a quick easy multi-melta conversion that actually looks pretty good! (see attached pics!)

Step 1. Take 2 Melta Guns

Step 2. File off sights and smooth tops of both guns

Step 3. Cut out the hand from the second gun, file smooth

Step 4. Invert the second gun and glue on top of the first gun, making sure the barrels are both in same position

Step 5 (optonal) add an external power pack or even craft a power line from bottom of bottom melta gun to backpack.

Easy, cheap, and looks pretty good!

That does look pretty cool, looks like the under slung Melta on my land speeder (for those who remember the 2nd ed speeder not the bumper car we have now)

I might try trimming them a little closer, so the barrels are touching.

Might be interesting to try a side by side double mount, rather then a top/bottom.

But it gets the MM point across, well done.

i'm just making up a list now for 8th edition and 27 points for a MM is scary!!!

Yeah the multi-melta is a HUGE loser in the game right now. Expensive and relatively garbage rules. But, even the standard meltagun is about the cost of a lascannon.

The conversion looks okay (needs a lot of cleaning up), and I'd lose the cables up top, leaving the bottom ones.

It's not really to my taste, but it definitely works and is an easy conversion. That said, you mentioned they're in the Devastator box but wouldn't use them on a Dev squad, so why not just use those bits?

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page

Cause devastator box is £25 and if you're not using a devastator squad in your army but want a tactical squad with a mutli-melta it's a cheap way of getting them.

I think the Dev box is still a good investment. Marine players will generally have spare power armor bodies kicking around, as they show up in pretty much every marine bundle they make. So turning the spare guns into an extra dev squad with 5 extra guys is not hard. And while the fortunes of various guns wax and wane with meta/edition shifts, they all have some use.

While MLs might be in a decent place (for once), it’s still nice to have more options for your tac squads. One Dev box as a new player will supply all the heavy weapon needs for a respectably sized army.

Or you could just get the Devastator kit's multimelta, arms and backpack on ebay for a couple of quid.

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.
