Ah, Manchu was right where the last forum went WAY off-topic so he was well within his rights.
Prior locked topic here:

[RRT] Where do we go from here?
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/756888.page

BUT I need to have some place to touch-base.
I will add to this shortly but wanted this in place now.

I was about to wander-off as well about various anime but Macross / Robotech was my generation's "Transformers" before there was such a thing.

Saw a quick sale on Artillery pods at about $7 each so got 4.
Foolish? I am unsure but seeing some crazy people trying to sell add-on boxes at some $100+... madness I tell you.

Oh, didn't expect to see a Robotech thread in this part of the forum ^_^.

RRT is... decent enough, for what it is. And what it is is a mass battles system in the Robotech universe.

Problem is that it's coupled with a (-n incomplete) range of miniatures that are very ill suited for mass battles due to 1) an inordinately high amount of parts for the given quality, and 2) the fact that for the "main" units of one of the factions, you need to assemble three of those minis to play with one.

So it's not really ideal. Then again, there are a number of skirmish level games you could use the minis for, and a fair amount are also useable for Battletech, so there's that.

It is good enough but I think if you were a fan of Robotech it really helps.
The models look quite good once together, but added assembly instructions really help, they are on Drive-Thru RPG but I had not checked, they may have been removed.
There is also at the Wiki: http://robotech-rpg-tactics.wikia.com/wiki/Assembly_Guides.
They are not a quick assembly but the Pods are not bad, the Veritechs are a bit of a challenge.
There are a few deals to be had out there, just watch out for those who seem to like to insanely mark-up the product due to being a no-longer supported game system.
I think it can be a fun stand-alone game, the box set does allow a Recon squadron.
The game is somewhat inexpensive right now at Miniature Market ($45):
https://www.miniaturemarket.com/plb55100.html
You could supplement with a fairly inexpensive artillery units ($15):
https://www.miniaturemarket.com/plb55402.html
Pods are at $15:
https://www.miniaturemarket.com/plb55401.html
You might need to get the Command pack for a second squad of any type ($21):
https://www.miniaturemarket.com/plb55403.html

It really depends on what you think of it.
At $45 for something to try, I would say that is not too bad for what you get even if you are not all that sure.
It is a far cry from the some $120 initially asked for.

Talking myself out of something requires a lot of energy and willpower, while talking myself back into something is pretty easy. I find myself with a core set of RRT plus a box of Tomahawks/Defenders. I find myself wondering what scale the models are-- 1/285 or 1/200? If the latter, I might try to hunt down some Dougram models in the same scale for retro Battletech. Any ideas?

Now showing The Fellowship of the Ring, along with some Dreadball Captains!

Painting total as of 4/13/2024: 31 plus a set of modular spaceship terrain

Painting total for 2023: 79 plus 28 Battlemechs and a Dragon-Balrog

They're 1:285 on paper.

Hm. The RTT models would probably be too small, then.

The game is part of MM's Come Sale Away sale at the moment so the main box is $35 instead of $45.

Sorry for threadromancy, but I just got an email with a usps tracking # from Palladium books .. I didn't order anything from them ever other than my original KS pledge. Are they shipping more stuff from the campaign? i checked the KS page and there weren't any recent updates.

Did you sign up for the pennies on the dollar in value models you already have trade in program? If so, did you ever get them?

The simplest explanation is that someone just copy pasted the wrong email address for an order and nothing will come of it. If something does arrive, don't bother contacting them as you're not legally required to with unsolicited mailed products.

I haven't done anything at all since the original pledge. I got the base game from wave 1 and that was it. Whatever it is, it's supposed to arrive tomorrow, so i guess we'll see.

Thought since this topic was brought back to life for a bit, I have seen some activity out on Facebook:
"Kids Logic" is having another kick at the can for Robotech miniatures.

A few pictures of the models:
Spoiler:

So, I guess we shall have to see where this is going.

The minis are nice and I appreciate the update but I have no interest in supporting Harmony Gold after they let Palladium mislead us for 4 years. I know they secretly extended the license at the very end for a year for free but that was too little too late in my book. I have nothing against kidslogic (I never heard of them before this project) but I won't spend another dollar on Robotech. I'll wait for it to revert back to Macross (*if* that ever happens).

What is Kids' Logic? The stuff on their site looks crazy expensive. Will they be selling minis for Robotech, or just boutique models?

I got in on that $25 cyber monday deal at Miniature Market for the starter set. Looking forward to building and painting Wolf Squardon, but I kinda doubt I'll ever play again (although I did find out that 2 of my neighbors are big Robotech fans, so never say never, I guess).

Sad what happened with this, but the more I think about it, the less fun a 2-faction tactical game sounds. I almost hope someone (maybe kid logic) makes minis and rules for a Mecha-Smash-Bros that pits Veritechs against Votoms and Patlabors and Mobile Suits, etc etc etc. I don't imagine I'd ever show up to a theoretical Robotech tournament to be greeted by a Zentradi player. Everyone would just want to play as the RDF. But if I could pit my Veritechs against some Voltron Lions, I'd be down.

Turned out to not be RTT at all, it was my copy of the Necronomnomnom. Guess they had Palladium handle the shipping for them.

Book came out great though

A bit of thread necro but we're fethed as fans/customers. Another couple decades of stagnation are likely inbound.

I suppose those new rpgs and board games will be a round for a bit longer now.

I've seen some gorgeous Dougram models lately.
