rules question about shield drones - if the riptide gets hit by a shot that does D6 damage, does the shield drone take the full D6, or do your roll the D6 and then allocate one to the shield drone?

Shield drone eat the whole attack.

Bork'an might work a bit better with the amount of random number shots. Looks mean except for the fusion commander. Tau can make monsters of their commanders, but a cold star or Xv-84 would serve you more here.

Also consider breaking off the elites to a vanguard to get free cp, and a slot for an hq with the puretide chip.

I've never been too crazy about ghost keels. And are you comfortable with your amount of marker lights?

I'd drop the ethereal for another fire blade. I'd also branch off the elites choices into a vanguard detachment to get that extra command point. Tau are very stratagem exhaustive. It's worth it to try to get as many command points as possible.
