I've slowly been working on my Legion minis and doing an Imperial force with a 501st Vader's fist theme.

I started with the unit leader to test out the color pattern and how I was going to do the armor washes and highlights. Basic steps prime white, add blue markings w maccrage blue, future black areas w skavenblight dinge, grey areas administratum grey. Give it a heavy wash with nuln oil, drybrush armor panels with ceramite white then do a lighter more carefully controlled wash. Add highlights along edges with ceramite white. Blue areas get cleaned up with maccrage blue and highlights with altdorf blue.

Start of Vader, difficult to see but the cape and body has 2 different shades of dark blue and grey, I still need to add grey to the neck pieces and add color to the chest details.

Start of the stormtroopers and snowtroopers which are patterned after the galactic marines in hostile environment gear but in blue instead of the imperial red.
Primary colors are all blocked out and next steps are to add the heavy wash then apply drybrushing.

I have some speederbikes primed which will be in grey with 501st blue striping on the bikes and riders. I've been enjoying the miniatures quite a bit although my painting progress is painfully slow.

Had about the same exact idea as you - 501st + Vader. Mine did not come out as well as yours, though I did put a vertical blue stripe down the leg and arm on mine.

Also, on the snowtroopers, I only edged the cloaks in blue and put vertical blue bars on the lower cloak, like this:

Also, I decided to go with a cracked magma base - y'know Mustafar. Thought it was appropriate .

Thanks for the painting compliments I'm always a bit self-critical of my minis because several of my friends are commission painters who compete at Golden Demon level so I always feel like I'm well behind the curve.

I'd forgotten about the clone wars officer's skirt, or I probably would have used the stripe pattern from that. It's been a while since I watched the series but I'm super excited that they picked it up for another season and probably going to rewatch the whole thing in preparation.

Here's where I'm at with the minis, I still need to do a few minor touch ups and do the bases then start on the speeder bikes which I'm hoping to tackle later this week but as always I paint super slow so it may be a while. I also added some addition pics and rear views in my gallery.

Looking super awesome.

On the speeder bikes, are going to go with the “classic” Endor brown or Solo movie Imperial Gray?

Thanks for the comments and I'm glad you guys are liking the theme. At some point I'll actually try and play a few games

Things are still moving a bit slow as I'm dealing with ongoing eye issues and I need to let things adjust in between treatments since it really messes with my close up vision.

Here's the test bike I started on and I blocked out the basic color pattern with an Imperial blue and grey theme. The rider I patterned after a Battlefront mod I saw and liked (there's also a cool youtube turntable of it). The bike I basically followed the imperial grey and black pattern that was on one of the old toys which is the same as the Endor bikes but is grey instead of brown and then I just winged it with the blue sections. It still a WIP with only base colors so it looks pretty flat at this point (as did the stormtroopers).

Next step is to give it the wash then drybrushing and highlights which brings out the details. I wanted to keep the blue accents from overpowering the look of the bike yet I think there's enough present to make it stand out nicely.

Edit:

Here's the speederbike after the heavy wash, drubrushing and highlighting will follow soonish.
