So I use a Knight in my Space Marine army as a lord of war. If my army is battle forged I can use the stratagems for the knights (pg 108 Imperial Knights Codex). I run a Space Marine as my warlord, however, if I use the Exalted Court stratagem can I take a warloard trait for my knight? Nowhere in the stratagem does it say in order to use this stratagem you need to be running a knight as your warlord.

Or am I reading that incorrectly?

You can take the trait, but it doesn't give you a 2nd Warlord. As long as you have access to Imperial Knights stratagems, you can use it. Compare it to the Dark Eldar stratagem that does something similar, which explicitly states an ARCHON must be your warlord.

Correct, there's no requirement for you to have an Imperial Knights warlord to use and benefit from the Exalted Court stratagem.
