Any good miniature wargame groups/people in or near Duluth, MN? There are a couple game stores, but they almost exclusively do Magic and DnD stuff. They rarely have good representation and comaraderie for wargames, even if they have the tables and sell the stuff.

My main focus is WH40k, and some AoS. I also do offshoots, like skirmish and modifications of it. I'd like to get into SAGA and Historicals and/or the Middle Earth wargames. I used to play regularly with family and friends, but life has them preoccupied in ways that prevent them from wargaming more than once or twice a year it seems.

Any information is appreciated.

I am from the wrong side of MN, but I would wager UMD has a group somewhere. You might need to contact student services to find out.

Thank you heartily for the suggestion. After digging, UM Duluth has one student organization that deals with tabletop hobbies. It's almost all based on RPGs and casual board games with a little Warhammer thrown in. They are closely related to the couple game stores in the area, which exhibit the same focus.

I'm not a UMD student, which also can trouble that path. Seeing as my initial problem is that the few local stores don't have much of a wargame scene in the first place and this group is part of the reason, the sole UMD group isn't viable. UW Superior has a single group that also does videogames, and is otherwise the same.

I'll keep searching. I appreciate the help

Hmmm, it might be a istuation where you will have to start the group.

Something that has worked for me in the past, was to create a post on an online forum (such as this one) for a Bring-and-Battle in conjunction with a local store. Then, anyone who is on the forum from the area can show up and that let's you get to know a few more players. All you need is a date adn time, and to contact thelocal store to let thme know your plan. They are pretty happy to have new customers.

I did this on Warseer a few years back and it worked great and helped me get the bones of a group going for the next two years.

Just an idea,
