say for instance a ordos Malleus inquisitor and a team of grey knights are investigating a potential chaos cult on a planet and the planet is attacked by a Ork or Dark Eldar raiding party will they join in on the planets defense or just ignore the xenos threat and continue there mission. what if a choas fueled revolt breaks out on a planet that a Ordos Xenos inquisitor is investigating for Genestealers. will the inquisitor lend his forces to crushing the choas revolt. are there any cases of inquistors dealing with threats outside there Ordos specialization.

Well, Eisenhorn, despite being part of the Ordo Xenos, spends more time fighting heretics and demons than aliens.

I imagine it would happen on a regular basis. An Ordos is less a specific job role and more an area where an Inquisitor might have expertise.
An Inquisitors primary goal is rooting out heresy and crimes that threaten the Imperium of Man and eliminating them through their preferred methods.
Now as to your examples it's tricky. The Orks are attacking whilst investigating a Chaos cult. Perhaps it's a distraction and the chaos cult threatens to unleash a warp storm trapping all Imperial forces in the system. Perhaps the Orks have been hired as mercenaries or a Weirdboy has been drawn to the area through psychic shenanigans. Perhaps the chaos cult, although heretical, are nowhere near the threat of a Waagh and are in just as much danger as the Imperial citizens. Perhaps your Inquisitor is a radical who wants to subtly direct the cultists and Orks to clash. Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.
The Inquisition is made up of a wide variety of individuals with a fairly loose hierarchy, even looser oversight with an immense range of personal specialities and approaches to protecting the Imperium. Guaranteed they all step outside their comfort zone, if they ever develop one at all.

As I understand it an Inquisitor will act and deal with if he or she can, unless it compromises more important missions or objectives.

Of course, like in Carrion Throne, the Inquisitors were hunting a threat on Terra before they even knew what they threat is.

Exactly. Ordos are more like special interest groups. Ainquisitor has particular expertise but with unlimited authority, nothing is ever "outside their jurisdiction"...

Of course.
They may be better at fighting at some foes but a inquisitor can be called to face any threat, xeno, heratics or demonic.
Whatever happens they have to adapt and fight it.
Elisihorn throughout his career faces all manner of threats, and they Don, t have the luxury to pass it on to someone else.
If a inquisitor finds a threat, its probbly pretty damn big and needs to faced NOW. Not in 3 weeks when the xenos arrives.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

keep in mind that chances are you only discover once you're neck deep in investigation if the cult you're investrigating is a chaos cult or a genestealer cult.

I think it’s also likely in the OPs scenario that the inquisitor et al thought the demon threat worse they would abandon the rest of the place to ORKS or eldar raiders. They are a law unto them selves. I imagine they take any opportunity to kick off though.
