It has alternating activations.

Although it does still have open, narrative and matched play.

There's a bunch of box sets, loads of new terrain and some new dice. All in all it looks pretty cool.

The rule set is different, and probably designed for alternating activation. It also helps that a kill team may only be ~10 models, and with only one model activating at a time, it could work. Infinity has a similar "IGOUGO" system in place, and its complicated as , leading to many situations of "Whose turn is it again? I forgot to pass the token..." or "I think I activated everyone... oh, this model doesn't have a chit so one more activation". Of course, this is all compounded by the fact that models can react to other models, even when it's not their turn.

I have high hopes for Kill Team! Being able to play a small, skirmish game set in the 40K universe using my 40K models appeals to me. Now, if GW would only bring back Mordeheim to the table top...

I like the fact that they said that this game will actually be supported and not released and forgotten like other stuff.

I hope they will hold unto that.
Also, I hope this will lead the developers of the Mordheim game on PC, that are also making the Necromunda game, to make in the future the Kill Team version.

I know I can complain about 8th a lot but that being said, kill team is shaping up to be the game I want to play rather than 8th, it looks to have all those complex little elements that I enjoy about games with some added narrative extras in the form of “role” warfare, I really like the idea of taking a deathwatch killteam with a salamander flamer specialist, a dark angel duellist etc. This even extends to chaos marines for me, I can finally have a reason to convert my bezerkers into all kinds of things.

I’m dare I say it... excited.

Interesting idea but after the lack of longevity of Shadow Wars and some of my fav factions being excluded from the start means I will give it a miss for now.

Its a game built for Inquisitorial Kill teams and you can't even play an Inquisitor :( Or a Sister of Battle.

very disappointing.

Facebook Warhammer has confirmed that the big box will be available for years to come. They said they learned their lesson from Shadow War and will make sure that there's plenty available.

having experianced alternating activations in battletech it'd proably not work on 40k scale, too many units, but should work fine for kill team

Their reasoning is the following: they chose plastik kits that can easily be kitbashed to get the various specialists, other than making sense (like no IK and Custodes). SOB will probably get their rules after their new plastic kit will arrive. As for Inquisition.... they have like 0 range. Probably will see something more down the line after Rogue Trader will hit.

what factions are missing Morden? My count is sisters of battle (hopefully they'll be included next year) custodes (no suprise generally GW's avoided +2 armor in these things) and knights (well duuh)

the space wolves, blood angels and dark angels all at first glance APPER to be missing, but we have a preview box with space wolves so I see this as more "at this scale there's not much differance" which is fair, a lot of the little differances between say... a grey hunter squad and a ultramarine tatical squad are going to vanish in kill team where you basicly ignore the codex astrates anyway to put together a more... fluid, unit

Curious to see what the list for Necrons looks like. Wraiths are essentially our spec ops unit but might be too big/expensive to fit in, and it's hard to imagine customizing and specializing warriors...

I approve wholeheartedly of this game.

I don't have a great deal of hobby time available so this will fit in quite nicely i.e. not needing a full army, etc.

As Tamwolf said - indeed, please bring Mordheim back. Was a great game...and BFG while you are at it.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you.

Alternating actions would take much too long for 8th edition. This game has a d10.

Bow down to Guilliman for he is our new God Emperor!

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.

Kill-Team is back? And now it is supposed to last longer than usual? I doubt it. There are even rumours that Necromunda Underhive will lose support after the sixth gang will be released. And if even Necromunda is shut down so quickly, Kill-Team has no hope at all to be supported for years to come.
Kill-Team is lacking one thing which would entice me to this game: Named and unique miniatures for each relevant faction. It would feel pretty lack-lustre to just pick the usual faceless mooks from my 40K army to assemble a commando. Sure, people can avoid this by doing conversions like it was proposed in 4th BRB when Kill-Teams were introduced for the first time. But who will go the extra mile to do so? Only a small amount of the player base.

Like I said the big one is the Inquisition - the most customisable and varied force, only really matched by the Guard.
Sisters of Battle - who we are still waiting for more than a single pic of what may, entually, perhaps be made into a model
Sisters of Silence - who do have plastic models and are elite specalist troops
Assassins and Custodes - a Army of One army would have been interesting
The Adeptus Ministorium - Death Cult Assassins, Priests, Crusaders,

How would you implement an army of one? Even Sly Marbo would be hard-pressed against ten chaos cultists. That single model would need a very good profile along with a lot of stunt doubles.

You would give them their normal rules.
Nothing we've seen mentioned so far is under a 3+ save and since there's no characters, you're probably not going to see Invulnerable Saves either.

It's funny that this line of debate comes up again as we had it with Shadow Wars and Kill Team previously. Then we got rules for "Elite" Kill Teams, things like Assassins and Terminator Squads.

I'm more interested in the terrain than the game, and I'm really glad GW is making efforts to keep things modular and interchangeable. So far they've only put out set piece terrain and I think a lot of people would like to have a modular set of walls/doors/windows/floors to use.

I was happy to see the release info. Ad Mech as one of the factions in the starter was a little disappointing but at least they're making the effort to push non power armoured troops.
The terrain that comes in the box looks good, as do the battle zone sets, and the individual Kill Teams coming with smaller terrain pieces and rules for them. Shrewd marketing there.
Talk of them supporting this and having learned from Shadow War is good. Looks like they're going a bit Shadespire with it too. Basically everything I'm seeing is positive.

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page
