So last night I got a box of Vertus Custodians, decided to give the golden bananas another go. While I was working on them I was thinking about rules for other Custodian units, especially FW ones we have models for but no rules. While FW's done a good job of making new rules for them, there's still a couple of missing units that I though I'd come up with some stuff for.

Elites - Aquillion Terminators 210pts

M5" WS2+ BS2+ S5 T5 W4 A4 LD10 Sv2+

Wargear
Terminator Armour
Adrathic Destructor
Power Talon

May take up to 7 additional models for 70(?) points each.
May exchange their Adrathic Destructor for an Infernus Firepike for 15pts each.
May exchange their Power Talon for a Solarite Gauntlet for 15pts each.

Adrathic Destructor
Range 12" S5 Ap-2 D2 Assault 2

Infernus Firepike
Range 8" S5 Ap-1 D1 Assault D6. This weapon hits automatically.

Power Talon
Range: Melee, S: User Ap-2, D1. Reroll wound rolls of 1 with this weapon.

Solarite Gauntlet
Range: Melee, Sx2 Ap-3 DD3. When attacking with this weapon, you must subtract 1 from the hit roll.

Special Rules
Standard Custodian rules.
Deep Strike

Designer's note: Any abilities which affect Terminators also affect Aquillion Terminators.

For these guys I think around 60-70 points each is roughly correct.

Sagittarum Custodian Squad

M6" WS2+ BS2+ S5 T5 W3 A3 Ld10 Sv2+

Wargear
Adrastus Bolt Calivers

May add up to 7 models for 60 points each.
May take a Misericordia for 4pts each.

Adrastus Bolt Calivers - When firing this weapon, choose one of the profiles below.
- Bolt: Range 24" S5 Ap-1 D1 Heavy 4
- Lance: Range 24" A7 Ap-2 DD3 Heavy D3. For every hit roll of 1, the bearer takes a mortal wound after all shots are resolved.

Now for these guys I'm thinking 60 points each. They have a pretty decent gun, but no CC potential at all unless they take Misericordias, which I feel balances it out.

So what are your thoughts? I've heard FW are planning to make 8th Ed rules for these guys but this is just my take on them.

Personally i would make the aquillon have a 4++ invun as per the Cataphractii armour it is based on (making it a 3++ invun in a battleforged custodes army) and make the infernus firepike str 6 and lastly i would make the talons literally lightning claws but for custodes. so +1 attack for 2 and re-roll wounds.

Obviously this would require a points increase and I would probably have the base aquillon as 90pts per model.

Another go, more like you found out how good vertus' were, why don't you just collect what you like rather than what rules an army has...

I do like the Custodians very much, thanks for asking. Why don't you contribute something useful to the thread rather than making snarky assumptions?

Forge world announced an index for 30k talons of the emporer for use in 40k at Warhammer fest:

As well as models, Forge World have been hard at work on new rules for Warhammer 40,000, announcing a brand new Imperial Armour book looking at the chosen children of the Master of Mankind himself – the Talons of the Emperor. With datasheets for using your Forge World Adeptus Custodes, an expanded list of units for the Grey Knights, and rules for using your Sisters of Silence as a standalone army, this book is going to be a treat for Imperium players .

No word on when, but likely pretty soon if it was revealed a couple months ago already.

Ooh fantastic, hope they make the Sagittarum worth using and bring the Beta units down a few points.

The 30K FAQ just made Sagittarum Guard more useful. They now have assault weapons, not heavy weapons. No reason to think that won't happen in 40k.

Well Heavy weapons aren't as impactful in 8th edition is probably why. In terms of 30k/7th edition, Heavy to Assault made them from utterly useless to some form of mediocrity. I just want to be able to create a Brigade for them myself.

On the other hand, in 7th edition rules you were able to fire only one part of a combi-weapon. In 8th, you can fire BOTH parts. If they count their weapons as combi-weapons (and I hope they do) this could be very nice.

Ok seeing as there's a little bit of interest here, I thought I'd have a crack at Valdor. No mistake, this guy is the greatest Custodian in 40k, so his rules should reflect that. Not on the level of Guilliman but close.

Constantin Valdor - 275pts
WS2+ BS2+ S5 T5 W7 A7 Ld10 Sv2+

Weapons and Wargear
Apollonian Spear (Melee) - Melee, S+2 Ap-3 D3, Successful Invulnerable saves against this weapon must be re-rolled.
Apollonian Spear (Ranged) - Range 24" S6 Ap-3 DD3 Rapid Fire 3

Special Rules
Warlord Trait - Severing Cut - If a friendly Custodian unit within 6" rolls a 6+ to wound, the Ap of that wound is increased by 1. Additionally, if Constantin Valdor is your Warlord, you gain an extra 2 Command Points.

Guardian of Humanity - Friendly Imperium units within 12" of Valdor automatically pass all Morale Tests.

Auramite Halo - Constantin Valdor has a 3+ Invulnerable save.

A God Amongst Men - Friendly Adeptus Custodian units within 12" may re-roll all 1's to hit and wound.
