Hey everyone! I used to be a really big player of 40k back in my teenage years. I got into the game around the last year of 3rd edition and played solidly up until the start of 5th. After than I kind of moved away from it due to studying, working and just not having the money or time to invest into it.
Just over a year ago I started slowly collecting a Dark Eldar (or Drukhari as they are now) army. It's taken me ages as I attempted the old 'buy a box, build and paint the box before getting anything else' method. I'm sure you guys know how tough that one is, but I mostly managed to stick to it!
Anyway, I've finally got just about enough to get back into the game. I should hopefully be playing again within the next couple of weeks. I've been checking out the current rules and reading over the new Codex and I have to say it looks like A LOT has changed since the last time I played.

You guys can look forward to seeing me attempt an army list, showing off my mediocre paint jobs and hearing of my impending slaughters very soon!

I'm also a Dungeon Master and huge cinema fan, so I'm sure you'll see me around quite a few boards. Look forward to chatting with you all!

I personally like Tabletop Tactics and Winters SEO.

But this is my personal opinion. Probably there are better options.

I renember now, Miniwargaming has some videos named "How to play W40K 8th edition" or semething like this.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Welcome back to the hobby. Try sticking to the one box at a time. It may save you some money and you won't have three years of backlog painting to get to like I got.

Thanks guys!
I managed to stick to one box for the longest time, but recently a friend was selling a friend was selling a bunch of old DE minis and I couldn't resist. At least most of them are built already?

Hi guys, I have a question and thought this would be a good thread to ask it on. Like ErkyTimbers I am a fellow Scotsman who is getting back into 40k after >10 years absence. (Cant bare to play age of sigmar as it has ruined fantasy in my humble opinion) so now is the perfect time to get back into 40k. As previously mentioned the rules are a world apart however from when i last played and I am unsure regarding command points/stratagems etc.

From my understanding units from both a space marine army and an imperial guard army could be used to make up a single battalion to give the 5+ command points (using the keyword 'imperium')?
If I am correct in my thinking this would you then gain access to both space marine stratagems on space marine units as well as imperial guard(A M) stratagems on A M units?
Or would you need to have a whole space marine battalion for their stratagems and a subsequent imperial guard patrol to gain their stratagems?

Any info re the above would be much appreciated, cheers lads.
