Spoiler:

I have a huge space marine army (salamanders) and painting green got really boring so I started experimenting with new stuff but it was still space marines.. I also don't really get to play much so not a competitive gamer or anything like that. I recently got a Knight Castellan as a gift from my gf as I was geeking out about them. Started painting it, and enjoyed painting again. Long story short, I know have about 2500+ points of knights. Not all fully painted yet, but nothing I would be ashamed to put on the table top. Most of them need highlights or final touch ups on the armor, missing base.

I have pics in the gallery if anyone wants to see them.

Are knight armies something that people like playing against or are they considered to be boring? I haven't played since two editions ago, so my frame of reference is off.

Are they fun to play with?

Mostly looking for opinions from others, I know the best option is to probably finish basing them and take them out for a spin.

Knights are fun to play and challenging to play against. They are those to do not like playing them or playing against them. Luckily, Knights are still slightly overcosted, so they are by no means overpowered. The biggest complaints are that some find them boring while other are interested in fighting big models. Yet, there is a sizable community that love playing them and enjoy playing against them.

So ... have fun?

One of my regular opponents has an all Knights list, so I have played against knights several times. Here are my observations:

If I bring a well balanced list (a good mix of anti armor and anti infantry) I get crushed.

If I bring a tailored list (lots of lascannons and armor) I crush him.

The games are usually pretty one sided and not all that fun.

One 2500 point game I brought all Imperial Guard tanks. 8 leman russes, 2 basalisks, a baneblade and a macharius Vulcan against his 5 knights. I went first and tabled him by turn 2. We reset and he went first and he tabled me on turn 4.

Thanks for the comments. Again I mostly collect and paint and I've enjoyed the painting very much.

I'll probably try a game with them to see how it goes at some point in time but bring a backup Salamanders army to be safe.
