Hey everyone. This is my first time building an Eldar list so I am really looking forward to what you all have to say. I have none of the models and the purse strings are a little tight so I mostly want to hash out a semi-competitive but fun list before I start buying models. Also I'm going to watch a tournament soon that is 1750pts so that's the reason for the high points cap despite just starting this army. Any and all recommendations and criticisms are highly welcome and thank you so much for your feedback.

BATTALION DETACHMENT (Alaitoc: Fieldcraft) +5cp

HQ
-Farseer Skyrunner (Guide, Doom): Warlord + Singing Spear + Fates Messenger + Phoenix Gem = 140pts
-Warlock Skyrunner (Quicken/Restrain): Witchblade = 70pts

Troops
-Dire Avengers (5 men): + Exarch with two Avenger Shuriken Catapults = 76pts
-Dire Avengers (5 men): + Exarch with two Avenger Shuriken Catapults = 76pts
-Dire Avengers (5 men): + Exarch with two Avenger Shuriken Catapults = 76pts
Dedicated Transports
-Wave Serpent + Twin Shuriken Cannon + Twin Shuriken Catapult = 129pts
-Wave Serpent + Twin Shuriken Cannon + Twin Shuriken Catapult = 129pts
-Wave Serpent + Twin Shuriken Cannon + Twin Shuriken Catapult = 129pts

Elite
-Shining Spears (6 men): + Exarch with Star Lance = 219pts

Heavy Support
-Fire Prism = 160pts
-Fire Prism = 160pts

Flyers
-Chrimson Hunter Exarch + 2 Bright Lances + Pulse Laser = 175pts
-Hemlock Wraithfighter (Jinx): Spirit Stones = 210pts

= 1749pts

I have three main concerns. One is the value of the warlock cause I've heard that they are not as good as other HQ choices but I would still like a fast secondary HQ to support my army. Another concern is my lack of infantry/bodies on the field and if that will become a major issue when fielding this army. My last concern is if I am overdoing it on the anti-armor by adding the Chrimson Hunter Exarch and if there are better units to compliment my army at the same points cost. Again thank's for all the help

What do you think about swapping the dire avengers for rangers so you can turn one land on objectives?

Also this seems vehicle heavy have you considered the craftworld iyanden attribute?

It would double their wound track.

Well, the minimum DA units are not my style of playing.
I like full units which can have much more damage output.
You could switch to Defenders as they are cheaper.

Farseer/warlock combo is solid.
Go minimum dire avengers or better yet replace with 5 man rangers.
Waveserpents are solid.
Shining spears good.
Fire prism should be three or bust. Two will get one deleted early and then the stratagem is useless.
Thus personally I would not take any prisms, instead invest in dark reapers, and/or more shining spears and/or more flyers.

Thanks everyone for their replies and you have given me lots of great ideas. Rangers with their turn one objective capturing is a very attractive idea, can they take Wave Serpents and just not use them? The other option would be to use lots of guardians with Bright Lances and take the Iyanden attribute to benefit both the guardians and the vehicles. I haven't the done the math for it so I don't know if it will fit but it is an interisting idea. And it makes sense for two Fire prismS not being ideal as you can expect at least one to be dead by turn three at the minimum, and I have heard awesome things about Dark Reapers so I will check them out, any recommendations for best configurations you have heard. Thank you all again for your feedback and I look forward to reading many more.

Yes, you can still have WS in your list if you swap the DA for Rangers. Neither are any rule obligation to be embarked in a WS.

Dark Reapers, even after recent points adjustment, are still a solid unit. You will need to develop strategies to ensure they don't get shot off the table on turns 1 or 2. They are generally a high priority target for opponents. I generally place them in a WS or utilize the Webway Portal stratagem.

Ulthwe' is a good all around Craftworld trait as it works for all your Craftworld models. Alaitoc is the popular go to Craftworld, but I've played many games where my opponents are able to get within 12" to offset the 'to hit' penalty. I have tried Iyanden and have not found it as useful as the Ulthwe' Craftworld trait. YMMV.

Good luck. It's a fun army to play.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Indeed, DR's need to be well protected.
You need to put pressure upon the enemy so that it is hard pressed to make decisions.

Thanks for the help y'all. I made a list swapping out the Avengers with 4 Rangers and the Prisms with one unit of 7 Dark Reapers and it looks pretty cool. And I was planning on putting the Dark Reapers in one of the waveserpents. I was wondering if it is any benefit to attaching an Autarch with a reaper cannon to the Dark Reapers unit in exchange for a DR Exarch and a unit of Rangers? And what do you think about the Rangers survivability? Is it all a matter of keeping the opponent distracted with scary Dark Reapers, Shining Spears, and Hemlocks that they don't bother to focus on the Rangers? Looking forward to what you all have to say and thanks again.

Hey everybody, this is my new list taking as much of your wonderful advice as I can. I would like to hear about what you all think about having the Autarch with the Dark Reapers. Is it a good idea or am I wasting points on an Autarch when I could get another Ranger unit and add a man onto my Dark Reapers?

BATTALION DETACHMENT (Ulthwe: Foresight of the Damned) +5cp

HQ
-Farseer Skyrunner (Guide, Doom): Warlord + Singing Spear + Fates Messenger + Phoenix Gem = 140pts
-Warlock Skyrunner (Quicken/Restrain): Witchblade = 70pts
-Autarch: + Banshee Mask(index) + Reaper Launcher(index) = 99pts

Troops
-Rangers (5 men) = 60pts
-Rangers (5 men) = 60pts
-Rangers (5 men) = 60pts

Dedicated Transports
-Wave Serpent + Twin Shuriken Cannon + Twin Shuriken Catapult = 129pts
-Wave Serpent + Twin Shuriken Cannon + Twin Shuriken Catapult = 129pts
-Wave Serpent + Twin Shuriken Cannon + Twin Shuriken Catapult = 129pts

Elite
-Shining Spears (7 men): + Exarch with Star Lance = 250pts

Heavy Support
-Dark Reapers (7 men) = 238pts

Flyers
-Chrimson Hunter Exarch + 2 Bright Lances + Pulse Laser = 175pts
-Hemlock Wraithfighter (Jinx): Spirit Stones = 210pts

= 1749pts

Thank you so much and I would love to hear your feedback
