I think it's a metaphor for a state of being. I "Reach Monarch" shortly after my third cup of coffee.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Yeah, I'm not done with this yet. The phrase is just too much fun without context.

"Reach Monarch, you will have to hold off the category 5 kaiju until reinforced by Crisp Berserk and Mauve Impregnable! Do it for Blast Petticoat!"

Run it through a thesaurus and you get some great college nicknames: Contact King, Grasp Queen, Stetch Regent, Prince Extend...

I don't think The Monarch and Dr. Mrs. the Monarch will be very much help against Godzilla.

Isn't Monarch the name of the organization that researched Kaiju/Godzilla in the first one? Was that the organization John Goodman founder in Kong: Skull Island? I only saw both movies once, so I do not recall.

Reach Monarch sounds like a villain in a Speed Racer show...... crosses fingers for a Speed Racer II Movie from the Wachowski's ....

Monarch is the Agency/Institute that is responsible for the research on the Kaiju. Ken Watanabe was with Monarch in Godzilla 2014 and John Goodman was the leader (or maybe just a Senior Representative) of Monarch at the time of Kong: Skull Island. At the end of Skull Island the other two members of Monarch from the film show Loki and Captain Marvel that Kong is just one of the Kaiju they know about now, with them showing cave drawings of Mothra, Rodan, Ghidorah and Godzilla, plus a couple of the "nuclear test" Images of Godzilla.

Damn. They're already going Independence Day on the world in the second Godzilla movie?

I'm trying to understand how the "titans" are supposed to save the world as described by the scientist, unless it's the standard "Mothra, Rodan, and Godzilla versus Ghidorah" plotline.

Personally I'm tired of the whole "humans are a blight upon the Earth" thing. That said, the movie does look entertaining.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I would be down for that honestly. It is simple and fits with the major themes for the Kaiju.

I was reading one person said they saw Gamera in there as well. Is this true?

Wait so you have seen Godzilla 2-32 plus the American ones and this trailer shows a premise too ridiculous for you to watch it?

This smacks of forced contrarianism.

Should be Kong. My guess he is the Monarch leaders Big Red Button or something.

I am really hoping they each get enough screen time.

The trailer shows a surprising amount of restraint considering most trailers. I know monsters are in it and I know some of the ones in it but the only one we see any really clear shot of is Godzilla itself (which we saw in the last movie).

Is it Godzilla as 1 of 4 monsters? 5? 8?

Can't say. Kong could easily be in the movie and we just don't know it yet.

The last Godzilla movie ranks as one of my highest "unexpected" good films. I thought it was going to be complete and utter gak, and I really enjoyed it. Thought it was as good a Godzilla movie as you could make with today's tropes (which are sadly still inescapable). Just fun, well filmed, and very cool.

So, I expected a similarly awesome launch of Kong: Skull Island...but it was one of the shittiest films I've seen i a long time. The polar opposite of my experience with the Godzilla film.

So, I'm 1-1...I'll see this Godzilla film, but I'm hoping it's not the burning turd that Kong: Skull Island became.

I thought Skull Island was a fantastic moive - sadly this looks more like the truely awful last Godzilla movie

(stupid characters, bad effects, boring story, pretending to be tense by not haqving the monster of screen - hated it)

Not even a mention of Kong and Oh so serious whilst actually being as silly as any other monster movie.
