Hi everybody. I am Dave the Walrus and I literally have been wargaming for 50 years. Do any of you out there remember Donald Featherstone, Tony Bath, Jack Scruby? I founded the Aberdeen Wargames Club in 1967, when I was introduced to Alex Garden and the club went from strength to strength. I now live in the north of Portugal with my family and so I have been guided into playing 40K and Warhammer with my two sons, as 40K is the only game in town. In fact we really have a small, "family club" as my two sons, my wife and I all play 40K in 2000 point games, usually.
I have an Eldar army, or Aeldari as they are now called. I tend to use them more like a Napoleonic army, I think, as it is heavily Infantry orientated with Bikers and Vehicles in support. The Hand to Hand element is not too strong, in my army. We had a 40K League, before all of the new Codexs (Codices) came out and my son Michael won it with an Ork army. We want to do another one, this year, but we are waiting for the new Ork Codex to come out. (Please don´s say "...You´ll have a long time to wait then...")
I gripe about the rules all of the time, but we stick to them through thick and thin. I have written my own rules for the Peloponnesian War and I am currently working on Napoleonic Rules, so I can see all of the pitfalls in the formation of a set of rules.
I want to suggest amendments to the rules, but I thought it was better to introduce myself first.
Best wishes,
Dave the Walrus
