Hi all! i have the techmarine that came with the servitors pack and he is siting on a 25mm base! lol so tiny base for such a big model... i really want to put him on a 40mm base...but ruleswise is this legal? will i have problems using him?
edit: i know the new marines come with 32mm base...but atm i dont have any of those bases and still i think the techmarine with servoharness needs at least 40mm

There's no official rule this edition. If you want to be able to use them in organised events though, they usually use the old official rule that they must be based on the size the model was sold with. Some models have been sold with multiple base sizes, so that gives you some leeway.
To be safe, I'd stick to that.

In general I would first say that any change of base size from the established current base size is giving you a modifier o the game rules as so much is measured from the base.
If your base is smaller than it should be then you can potentailly get more units into close combat than normal; whilst if its bigger you can use it to block or otherwise control the board more so.
Now both times you can work around it; you can measure to the "rough area the base should be" however that can be tricky, more time consuming and often easy to forget during a game
GW is kind of annoying in that they changed a lot of base sizes on models that had had certain sizes for years/decades. So with a huge legacy issue they've officially said "it doesn't matter/whatever it was on when you bought it" which is fair; but not fair for balanced play at the competitive level (or even just fair casual to be honest).
So I'd say it depends on your local meta and what type of games you get into and the sort of people you are gaming with. If its just Fred and Dave and you all really don't care that much etc.. then its fine. But if you're competing a lot and you're going to events and you've got a large healthy and active competitive club then you might find it best to use the official base size.

All newer Space Marine characters are on 40mm bases already so this sounds fine to me.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.
