I don't mind them incorporating the mask into it in the flashback bit. They have had little nods to everyones costumes so far but his (besides his generally green color palette for his clothes).

Making the mask part of some ritual thing back in Kun Lun is fine.

He was MUCH better in Luke Cage 2. I am looking forward to him getting out of these introductory growing pains and getting some heroes for hire going.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I enjoyed the first season fine, enjoyed Defenders fine, and thought his appearance in Luke Cage was fun, so I'm looking forward to enjoying the second season fine as well.

Fingers crossed they've spent a bit more time at fight camp this time, or upped his fisty power so he can just brawl like Luke or Jones

If they're not already, they should be going to the same fight camp as the one the Into the Badlands cast uses, they managed to put together some vaguely convincing fight sequences where Nick Frost was involved

that was an utter genius bit of casting for that role

Yeah, that's right in line with how they got Luke Cage into something resembling the classic Power Man outfit. It's a nice nod to the source material.

I didn't think Season 1 had any issues that couldn't be solved with more fight training, better fight choreography, and better characterization. The actor will be fine with some better writing.

At SDCC the director and cast talked about putting a lot of time into the fights, and the teaser from that show seems to bear that out. Has a nice edge to it, I think.

Spoiler:

Ive said it before, Iron Fists problem on netflix has been that he has not been portrayed as a good enough martial artist to actually be the iron fist.

At the beginning of Dr Strange the bad guy and his mooks run into the Sorcerer Supreme in a side street and all they can do is bide their time before they find a way to run. Thats what the Iron Fist should be for martial arts. He's the Sorcerer Supreme of martial arts. Not going to be one day. IS.

If he spent all the episodes at the beginning dodging around people and avoiding getting into any fights and then the hand showed up and he just started ripping through them it would have all been fine. But so far he hasn't actually been a good enough martial artist.

The layman thinks hes the iron fist because his hand glows. Untrue. His hand glows because hes the iron fist.

Iron Fist season one's general awfulness can be traced back to a single man: Scott Buck. This is the guy who would go on to make the even worse Inhumans series for Marvel TV as well.

He is gone. They have new people. They have a new choreographer. Finn Jones is being given more than 15m to learn and rehearse an entire fight scene this time around.

This should be much better.

It's worse than that, because Danny himself thought he was super-awesome and prepared for anything, yet kept failing or finding others to teach him things he should already know.

The idea that a Hand leader taught him how to recharge Chi and heal with Chi is just absurd. How can he be The Immortal Iron Fist if he doesn't know those things?

He should always be the best fighter in the room.

I didn't have a problem with the broadest brush strokes of season 1. There's nothing with starting the character out in a less likeable place. And establishing him as 'the worst Iron Fist ever' is an interesting take, IMO. The issue was with not establishing that earlier in the season and giving the character more time to redeem himself. Basically the normal Marvel heroic arc. Writing was the biggest issue, IMO.

I actually kinda hope they stick with the notion that Danny was a questionable to mistaken choice to receive the power. It's a little more interesting than the standard "chosen one" approach.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Best ways to reconcile it would probably be either A: Danny was a bad choice, but they knew via mystical-wotsits that Davos would have been some kind of monster so Danny got it by default, or B: it's all some kind of long game by the K'un-Lun elders who knew that Danny would be a gimp in the short term but could grow into just what was needed to prevent some future threat, while Davos would have been a hidebound traditionalist who'd get everyone killed.

Of course what I expect is they'll just ignore it altogether and pretend Danny has been awesome the whole time.

That's exactly my read on Danny's character... which I kinda dig. His journey is to prove that they made the right choice, rather than being an uber-Bruce Lee.

It wouldn't be that interesting of a story if he's uber-Bruce Lee'ing out of every situation now would it?

Good news: It's only 10 episodes!

This is arguably what all the Netflix Marvel shows should be, as I've yet to see any of them use all 13 episodes effectively (except Punisher). Even DDS1 and JJS2 went off the rails with 1 episode per season. The rest could not justify their full 13 load.

Full trailer.

This is potentially a much-improved show from what I see there.

As long as Scott Buck isn't involved, it might have a chance. No idea how that guy kept failing up like that.

Sounds like he loses his power to Steel Serpent. That's not a plot line I like.

Also the "I didn't choose to be the Iron Fist".

Yes you fething did! You worked your whole life towards it.
