After hearing the announcement of Eurazeo buying Asmodee and Petersen leaving Fantasy Flight Games;
What does everyone think about the Future of the games??

X-Wing is going into its second edition; Locally there are people excited but more are in the "wait and see" category.
Legion keeps pumping out stuff but I've already seen a decline of games hitting the table at the FLGS.
The Star Wars RPG seems to be at the end of its life with about everything from the movies;

What else besides star wars do FFG have going.. Cthulthu and GoT titles I am sure bring in some money but nothing
like the power house of SW.

I just hope Gen Con will have some announcements to make me feel better.

Well, I've been told that L5R is an strategic (as in, strategically important) property now.

Legion has eclipsed Sigmar and X-Wing, though I think X-Wing will likely see much increased sales once Second Edition comes out. Many Legion products are sold out, even from FFG, and are being reprinted - as usual FFG's logistics is letting them down a bit, with at least one unit (Fleet Troopers) purportedly selling out at the distributor before even releasing!

Losing Netrunner and the GW licenses has hurt FFG but they still have quite a broad catalog of products. Losing the Star Wars license (IIRC up for renewal in 2020) would be awful for them. They're focusing a lot on L5R stuff recently because they own that license, and I've heard rumors they may try to expand Twilight Imperium content also. Their fantasy universe, Terrinoth, seems broadly unpopular.

I used to love L5R, played it competitively for the better part of 15 years, worked as a playtester and created some cards that saw print. I love the setting but I just can't get into the the FFG version with the new mechanics and art style. It's not that I dislike anything in particular about it, but for some reason it just doesn't feel like L5R to me anymore. It's not something specific to the property changing over to FFG but maybe just a general burn out since I'd largely disconnected with stuff over the last five years of it's run with AEG. I'm glad to see they are putting in the effort to keep it going since one of my fears was that they'd buy it put in half measures only to later mothball it. A lot of my friends are still all playing it and they are liking it so it seems to be doing quite well with them and weathering the change over.

Overall I think FFG does a lot of good things with their games and I'm currently enjoying Legion, but they always seem to use far too many tokens and counters for my taste. I'd like to see them streamline that a bit but that's usually only a minor sticking point. Although when I tried out their SW Destiny game I was really intrigued by the mechanics but the amount of dice, tokens, and action tracking was crazy especially for competitive play which is why I ultimately backed out of it. The game play for Legion however scratches my Star Wars itch and I can overlook some of the clunky tokens since the game play is simpler and doesn't get too bogged down.

I really like Legion, but I'll not be surprised if it drops from the list. It launched in that period which is a pretty major boost. Still, getting that high solely on launch product is not a feat to ignore.

FFG & Privateer teaming up to do limited ed L5R minis. The crate format seems like a really odd idea to me.

With the new buy out money of Asmodee, it wouldn't surprise me if this is the hint that Privater press is about to get gobbled up..
FFG and the other game groups don't have a strong miniature division.. instead of building it up.. just buy one.

X-Wing has actually been beating 40k at independent retailers for some time (though it's fallen on hard times pre-2e), and Legion is currently in the top 5 miniatures games, beating Sigmar at independent retailers. FFG's minis are doing quite well...
