Greetings.

I am - yet another - old timer painter/hobbyist.
I started painting/collecting models back in the late '80s/early '90s and played some 2nd ed when it first came out.

I stopped playing for a long while, tried coming back a ten-some years ago, then hiatus again.
I recently resumed painting and collecting and started building a space marine chapter - again - from scratch.

I like kitbashing my models - especially because I come from the dark ages when only part of the units had actual physical models.
So I had to make do, piecing stuff together from what I could scrounge, scavenge and afford.

My original chapter was a semi-codex, watered-down BA successor.
In its current incarnation, it's more of a merc spec ops type army, recruiting any available body, because I got bitter with age.

Well met.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

IceAngel wrote:I must say Knightley, I am very envious of your squiggle ability. I mean, if squiggles were a tactical squad, you'd be the sergeant. If squiggles were an HQ, you'd be the special character. If squiggles were a way of life, you'd be Doctor Phil...

Welcome back, sounds like a fun chapter and set of conversions!

Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all
Armies in disrepair: nothing new since 5th edition oh how I want to revive, but mostly old fantasy demons and some glorious Soul Grinders in need of love

I still have second edition! Picked up a mint copy some time ago for nostalgia and its one of my prized possessions. Had some great times with that edition.

Now if I could find a relatively complete copy of (Epic) SPACE MARINE and TITAN LEGIONS...

...and someone to get a game of with too, of course!

Anyway, welcome to Dakka Dakka!

Thanks!
I'm slowly posting pictures in the P&M subforum.

Right now I'm toying with the idea of building my army as a clan-based, multi-gene chapter.
Each clan takes from a different existing chapter and/or ethnos, each which its own quirks and tactical specialties.
I wasn't originally planned as such; it just happened, as I was assembling models with spares at hand, trying to create minis that just looked nice.
Then I tried to make it into a coherent whole, as different clans got drawn to the main chapter, each coalescing into differently themed units.

So had I.
It felt like the most streamlined edition to me - except for vehicle combat. That was clunky IIRCC.
In later editions newer rules baffled me, especially close combat, and eventually I lost interest for a while.

Did I mention I still have an Adeptus Titanicus box somewhere?
Thanks!

I have all the editions of Epic and more. I have to be honest I still look at AT and SM1 in awe, get giddy over SM2 and Titan Legions, and admiration for Epic 40k. I do dislike Epic A though.

Some of the best gaming days of my life were in the days of 40k 2nd edition, AT/SM1, Man O’ War, and those other great games from those golden years.

Thanks again for the welcome, guys!

I posted more of my WIP shots in the blog subforum.
Hope you like how they're coming together.
