I got a Sporocyst today, and I’m trying to figure out what weapons to give it. I want to use Venom cannons, but I’m open to other options.

INSANE army lists still available!!!! Now being written in 8th edition format! I have Index Imperium 1, Index Imperium 2, Index Xenos 2, Codex Orks Codex Tyranids, Codex Blood Angels and Codex Space Marines!
PM me for an INSANE (100K+ points) if you desire.

I find a sporocyst is pretty bad by itself, you want to take 3 and plonk them all down in the enemie’s face. That being said, weapons depend on what you want from it - deathspitters if you want to drop them forwards to put pressure on the opponent or venom cannons if you want to fill your mid/backfield with spore mines and snipe from afar

Their BS 5+ doesn't make me want to spend a whole lot giving them fancy guns. Keep them cheap IMO and just use deathspitters.

The extra range and 50% increased accuracy against big units made me assemble mine with barbed stranglers. Anyways, the sporocyst is usually one of, if not stellar, most reliable units. Is really good creating a danger zona, it camps my boardside taking an objetives while adding some firepower, all without never being focused by enemy guns, it seems isn't enought threatening.

I stick with spitters and drop it as near to center of the table as i can preferably on an objective, my opponant then has to either deal with it leaving the rest of my force relitivly alone or ignore it and give me board control and an exrended synaptic range. Sure it may give up first blood but it stands a good chance of pulling an enemy out of position or revealing a tactic/suprise they may of wanted to use later.

No matter what your list you'll want to so both at times

P.S.A. I won't read your posts if you break it into a million separate quotes and make an eyesore of it.

Sporocysts are best kept cheap. Being 12-wound monsters that ignore the new deepstrike restrictions, inundate the board with mortal wounds and hold down objectives for a mere 104 points is what makes them strong. Hitting on 5’s means even with Kronos most of their shooting is a waste anyway.
