This is a PLOG for my Scyhtes of the Emperor 1st company. I use the Deathwatch codex to represent them on the battlefield and to reflect their vast experience in fighting against the Kraken and other Xenos forces such as the Tau during the Damocles crusade, a noteable action for the chapter. The setting for my force is current day 40K with the remnants of the Scythes being reinforced by Primaris units and being tasked with the defence of the Sotharan league by Guiliman with assistance from several other chapters including the Ultramarines.

The company contains a large amount of Scyhtes who went on to see service with the Deathwatch after the fall of Sotha, This includes the company commander who has authorised the use of Deathwatch doctrines and specially acquired equipment when facing the Xenos in the field.

--------

Anyways ive always wanted to do a Scythes of the emeperor army as i love the colour scheme and the background is brilliant too. The idea of using them as counts as deathwatch really appealed to me as well to give the force a bit of character and to show how much experience the 1st company veterans had in fighting against Xenos forces.

Here is the force so far, its quite small but ive got alot of unpainted minis to get through!

(The full force so far)

(rear view)

(1st Veteran squad with a couple of frag cannons)

(Brother Veridos ready to unleash some dakka)

There will be loads more to come the next things on the painting table will be my Corvus and a squad of Primaris.

For Sotha!

A nice little force so far. Good thinking using the DW codex to represent their Xenos fighting expertise.

Looking at these guys on the screen and comparing them to my intercessor I did as a test model I've decided I'm not happy with them and I can definitely improve by just spending a little more time. The yellow is too drab on the veterans and they haven't been highlighted a second time.

I'm moving into a large 7 man intercessor unit with 2 hellblasters and will be taking more time to control the quality rather than just desperately try to get them out on the table!

Ok so I have been working hard on a squad of primaris marines for my Deathwatch army, it has taken quite a while to even get them to this basic state but multiple layers of Averland sunset then washed with sepia and then gone over with 2 layers of Uriel yellow has taken a fair while!

These guys will also have a duplicate unit of 7primaris with 2 hellblasters. Here they are so far.

For Sotha!

Here's an update on my primaris kill team, they are very nearly finished and I have finished this guy up so thought I'd stick him in my new lightbox and let everyone check him out.

Makes me want to revisit my scythes . You’ve done an excellent job with the yellow on them, good and bright to contrast the dark black.

LOL, Theo your mind is an amazing place, never change.-camkierhi 9/19/13

Little update here is the "sword of Sotha"corvus blackstar to get my poor suicide veterans into the heart of the action.

Hope you like her, have another squad of veterans in the pipeline as well now who will be in the corvus with 3 combi meltas.

Honestly wasn't a fan of the Corvus when I first saw it. But seeing it with a more subdued paint job, it's actually looks not half bad. I wonder if it's the lovely strong yellow you've achieved on it.
I wonder if it's just GW's DW paintjob putting me off it.

Cheers bud yeah I was pretty happy with the final result tbh when I was basecoating it I wasn't sure either!

I've been busy as always and am painting up another regular unit of veterans the guys are equipped with 3 combi meltas and 2 storm shields and will drop into the enemy line targeting tooth units

Kill team "Thorcyra" named after their former chapter master who fell while fighting the Kraken on the giants coffin. All 5 brothers are veterans from the fighting on their former home world and lived to see the chapter burn. Each of the 5 battle brothers were part of the annihilated 2nd company and we all offered a tour with the Deathwatch due to their exceptional skills fighting Tyranids.

On their return to the chapter they formed kill team "Thorcyra" adept in hunting high value targets these battle brothers are plunged into the heart of the enemy.

A work in progress but hopefully will have them finished next week and will get some finished pictures up

Huh... waddya know. Inceptors actually look half right with a close combat weapon in their hands.

Too bad about those ridiculous feet though.

Good work, mate. Keep it up!

The yellows are beautiful, striking and have good depth to them. Well done, given how much of a pain yellow is to paint. It's a very distinctive looking force.

If anything some of the blacks look a bit flat and hiding some of the details, though those are better on the new photos. I wonder if some of them could benefit from a stronger highlight or using a dark grey as the base so that you can get some depth in the recesses.

On the whole a very cool army!

Thanks mate yeah I agree, I have literally just finished a 5 man hellblaster squad which I have fully edge highlighted and will get pics up soon. I basically had to wait until I got a better brush as I only had a cheap set but recently picked up an artificer s citadel brush for highlighting!
