When I successfully grapnel onto a unit/object, what is the interpretation of moving towards that unit/object?

As long as I end up moving towards the unit in the end, can I move behind it? Can I move to the side of it? Also, can I move more than the 24 inch range of the weapon? All the description says is move towards that object, any distance.

Just trying to get some clarification. Thanks.

Grapnel Launcher:
A Skywarden with a Grapnel
Launcher can fire it at the end of their shooting
phase, after all other shooting has been resolved.
Choose a terrain feature or a unit – friend or
foe – with a Wounds characteristic of 10 or more
within 24" and roll a dice. On a roll of 4 or more
the grapnel has snagged on the target; immediately
move this unit of Skywardens any distance directly
towards the target. They must finish their move
more than 3" from enemy models.

Keyword: directly (towards the target)

Meaning the most direct and shortest possible distance. So no moving behind or to the side.

You can move more than the 24" though, because the range is measured from the model with the Grapnel Launcher, but he could have a conga line behind him. Important rule part for this: move this unit of Skywardens any distance

Thanks for the reply.

One follow-up, and I believe this will clear everything up for me.

Say Unit A and Unit B are targetable units.

Unit B is directly behind Unit A (With maybe 1inch between them). Both units are directly in front of a unit of endrinriggers.

The unit of endrinriggers grapnels to Unit B.

Does the unit of endrinriggers:

1) Move directly towards Unit B, but must stop in front of Unit A, because they are in the way and there is not enough room to fit the endrinriggers in between them or
2) Do they go around Unit A to go to Unit B, which would make them hit Unit B from the side, since Unit A is blocking the path.

1)

"Directly" is always between the closest points between two units/models in GW writing.
