They're not in spam, or being filtered into other folders (as far as I can see). I'm receiving other mail OK.

Yes it is. I've changed my address from my gmail to my hotmail to see if that makes a difference.

If you ever even accidentally reported one of the notification e-mails as spam, that might be part of your problem.

"Email Notifications From New Posts" & "Keep Sending Email Notifications" are both ticked but I'm not getting anything into my hotmail either.

Just had a burst of notifications arrive in my gmail, despite my profile having my hotmail address - I guess they were stuck somewhere.
