Hi everyone,

I am looking for a short story (3-4 pages) that was published years ago, not sure when (could be as far as 20+ years ago), might have been linked to a Tyranid release (40K or maybe Epic), likely in a White Dwarf.

The story is depicting a landing drop by Imperial Guard and elements of a Titan Legion on a planet under threat of a Tyranid attack. Initially all seems good but while the landing is in progress Tyranids start showing up in growing numbers and the drop site turns into a frenzied killing zone, with Tyranids butchering everything. If I remember well it ends with the story's lead IG character dissolving after being hit by flesh-eating Tyranid micro-organisms.

Likely a very long shot, any help appreciated.

Isn't that the synopsis to Starship Troopers landing sequence as well?

Not exactly but there are indeed similarities.

When the assault ships start dropping from the fleet's vessels is one of my favorite Sci-Fi movie sequence.

Here my memory was not perfect as there is no titan legion involved and it is not the lead IG character who dissolves.

I am very glad landl helped identify it so I could read it again.
