As title suggests I am interested in making Nurgle my Chaos army.
I currently have 3 Start Collecting boxs, 20 Pleaguebears and a GUO all coming in the post during this week.
I love the models but have nevered played them or against them. So I'm simply wondering are they a fun and easy army to play? I am not looking to go competitive with them. I just want an army I can pull out and have fun with.
In regards to what I own is their any thing else you guys would recommend? I was looking at those FW pox riders that cost £65 for 3. Was wondering are they worth the price and is there a to convert those models (£65 wounds get me 2 SC boxs).
I also have Deathguard and was wondering is it viable to run Nurgle and DG together? I know they can be in separate detachments but as an army do they help each other out?
I have a great time playing Nurgle Daemons! Thanks to all of their options, there is fantastic synergy. With a Gnarlmaw and all of the heralds they're a choppy, tough, and fast army. I think that the speed particularly is what really ramps up the fun factor. Advancing 7+D6" and charging makes even Plaguebearers blisteringly fast.
As for what you own, I also focused on the Start Collecting Boxes, which are obscenely good value. I haven't played the GUO, so I can't comment there, although I've not particularly heard great things - although Rotigus is reported to be at least passable. Besides what you have, I definitely think you should pick up a Spoilpox Scrivener. He really makes Plaguebearers amazing! And if you have more than one squad of Plaguebearers a Sloppity Bilepiper would also be a good investment. I only usually run one squad, but grabbed one anyway. And I'd also grab a Feculent Gnarlmaw. I originally hated the model, but now I think it's one of my favourite in my collection. And for some reason, that my opponents can't target it infuriates them to no end.
As for what you get in the box, Nurglings are just fantastic objective campers, and and Plague Drones are a nice fast option that are not slouches in combat. They're probably the least useful thing (though not by much), and the first thing I drop when points are at a premium. One of the things I love about Nurgle Daemons is that they are one of those rare armies where their troops really are the star players. Big squads of Plaguebearers with triple herald support are just great!
As for adding Death Guard, I love running Daemonkin. In fact, without a GUO, it's really the only way I even can run Daemons in a 2000pts list. I tend to find that there is a certain amount of functional overlap. I think Nurgle Daemons provide better troops, and DG better DPs and support units. Particularly, I far prefer Bloat Drones to Plague Drones (easier to transport too!). The issue I tend to have is that both Nurgle Daemons and DG are focused on anti-infantry. However, DG provides access to Contemptors (which are actually good) and Predators (which are pretty meh). But then you could just run straight Armigers with your Daemons these days without DG.
On the flip side, there was a thread on here about a month ago when people were asked what their least favourite army was (I think it was to play against), and 90% of people said Nurgle/DG, thanks to Disgustingly Resilient. Now, they are just wrong, as the actual answer is Aeldari. (People who collect and play Elves have surely lost their soul, already lost the moral game by showing up to the table with them, and also have lost at life.) Although seriously, the people I play against have never expressed that opinion, but it's something to be aware of. I tend to think they're a lot more interesting than a gun line.

Don't forget, Death Guard also have Plagueburst Crawlers. Also being nurgle daemons Death Guard Daemon Princes of Nurgle, Foetid Bloat Drones and Plaguburst Crawlers count for things like Epidemius' tally of pestilence.
