Taking fluff, models, and play style into account, which do you all prefer? Explanations to your choices are much appreciated.

This is a toss up for me.
Red is my favorite color and I like fast tactics, so BAs are appealing.
But I also love dogs and the idea of Space Viking with a feral pack mentality is kinda cool.

I chose team Edward, however, because team Jacob can be a little too "Wolf Wolf McWolf Wolferson".
BAs are also more tradition Space Marien in most of their esthetics, so that is a plus over so many unique kits being required.

None. Dark Angels FTW.

There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Emos Vs Furies? Tough decision.

I'll have to go with the Furies though because; in the fluff, they're a bit less tragic/angsty but that might be because their Primarch wasn't smeared across a floor (though he came close) and; in the crunch, the Wolves are what I wish the World Eaters were: lots of fast moving killy stuff, mounted cavalry, anti-psyker priests and mutated CQC combat units that are worth a damn.

Just take a look at the models:

Space Wolves (Ugly/Aweful):
- Wulfen
- Santa Claus on Sled
- Thunderwolves

Blood Angels (Aweful):
- Sanguinary Guard
- Lemartes

Clear win for the Blood Angels. Though there is a way to save the Space Wolves. Just get rid of the stupid wolf stuff and put more emphasis on the Viking theme.

Touché.
But at lease BAs have the decency to disguise their theme word. Red Thirst, Sanguin-something, etc.
SWs have no such desire to fancy up their theme word, which is actually pretty appropriate for them when you think about it.

I don't hate any chapter more than space wolves - in fact I like all of the chapters and consider them my brothers. Space wolves...they are basically daemons...

I used to like Space Wolves, the feral Viking warriors in space is a cool theme, and their colour scheme is interesting. I also like the pelts, animal skulls and fang necklaces. They've gotten flanderised to ridiculous degree now though, so they've become kind of a joke. Having pet wolves was cool, riding giant wolves was silly, riding in a flying sled pulled by giant wolves... oh boy, I have no words... Still, Blood Angels do nothing for me, they're just boring. So I have to choose the Wolves. (Flesh Tearers are pretty cool though. They've got the cool bits of BA without all that pretentious angel bs.)

Space Wolves for me, Crimson's complaint about the flanderization isn't entirely wrong but Blood Angels suffer from it to, Space Wolves at least feel like they're intentionally "over the top silly"

I went with Blood Angels. I love jump infantry, for one. The other reason is the really dumb concepts SW have had recently. Wulfen, cool. Wolves, cool. Thunderwolf Cav, dumb idea. Space wolf Santa, dumbest model in the 40k range.
I liked Space Wolves until Thunderwolf Cav got released, I love the whole concept of Nordic themes/wolverine etc, but those two units make me not want to have anything to do with the model range.

Sometimes, you just gotta take something cause the model is freakin cool...

I have to go with Blood Angels on this one. I find them less cringy and their struggles with the black rage and red thirst to be rather interesting.

It is definitely a case of to each their own. I personally like the Thunderwolf Cavalry and love the fact that GW recognized the fact that the Norse god Odin was an inspiration for the Santa myth with Logan's model, but I think the Wulfen models are ugly even though I like the concept.

New wulfen models are horrible wolverine wannabes, where as the old Eye of Terror campaing ones actually looked like mutated marines.

Compare this:

To this:

And the grav-sledge was a good idea at its core - its just the execution that was horrible.

Luckily the Wulfen models are super easy to convert. The whole problem with them imo are the torsos and especially the legs, so just kitbash them together with Primaris marines (Intercessors/Reivers) and you get nice some nice looking models.

Yeah. Wulfen bits look great on Primaris bodies.

Blood Angels for me. They've a psychic Dreadnought who can use space magic to fly. There's also the fact that lots of their special units and characters have different coloured armour so when you get tired of painting red... And you will... You can paint some Death Company or Sanguinary Guard for variety.

Take a look at what I've been painting and modelling: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/725222.page

I don't know why I never realized how "X-men Wolverine" SWs actually are. I mean, Wulfen similarities are obvious, but it's deeper than that.
Their colors are often blue and yellow, they seem to use duals claws very often as a preferred melee option and their main dude is named Logan.

BA..... SW has gone a little too wolfy. They should have stuck to a more Viking theme with wolf accent

If this was 1998 I would have said Space Wolves all day. Now? Blood Angels. Space Wolves have become an absolute farce.

Blood Angels I have absolutely no feelings towards one way or another except for the model with nipples on his armour which is plain silly.

Now Space Wolves are a different story. They were the army I started with because I loved their lore and models and play style. But since then its just been stupid release after stupid release between Murderfang, Stormrider, the flying containers and the awful Wulfen to the point I've quit them now because I don't want to play an army where I sigh every other page at something dumb
The few cool things they add don't hold back the dumbtide sadly.

I voted Blood Angels. I like their lore and color scheme more than the wolves. I'm also not into vikings or Wulfen.

Praying to get a game of 9th edition in before Summer.

This sucks, and I admit I hadn't thought about it from that perspective. If I'd been a long-time Space Wolves player I'd be damn near heartbroken at how obnoxious they've become. I suppose you could model your way around a lot of it, but I do fully understand. That sucks.

I find his inclusion of the gunships in that list a bit odd given they're no worse then any other space marine flier (all of which take basic principals of aerodynamics around behind the woodshed) but yeah sucks for him to see your army become something you dislike.

I totally forgot about the flying freight containers, have to add them to my list of things I don't like about SW. To be fair the other SM fliers aren't great either, the SW is at the pinnacle of boxiness though.

I don't think the Wulfen are that bad though, as others have said they work really well when combined with 1-2 other kits. It sort of tones down the wolfiness.

Mephiston sold me on the Blood Angels. The Space Wolves just don't have character as good as him. However the space werewolf Vikings thing is really cool and makes the a close second.

I actually like the Space Wolf flyer if you ditch the overpowered weapons, and lose half of the wolfy stuff. I was going to grab one and make it into a Caestus Assault ram for my CSM at some point.
