Nice - an aspect of gaming that is rarely addressed, but pretty crucial. Good job sir ;-)

That seems a bit... basic? No protection whatsoever? Just let the minis rattle around while driving?

I was thinking the same thing, though from the format he uses to make the base for it, it seems to me that one could very easily just add a bit of foam in between each model. Though that would decrease the amount of models that can fit in one layer, but if you want added protection I don't think it'd be hard to make it more rattle-proof.

For something like marines which are mostly quite tanky and blocky in build and don't have many finer bits all over this probably works ok; esp if you're carrying boxes to a car and then driving fairly safely and sensibly. Bit of rattle but not enough to cause huge paint chips or damage (esp after varnishing).

Though I agree in an ideal world I'd rather see some foam in there; esp when he came to things like the dreadnoughts I'd want foam in there even loose foam just to give some protection from them bashing each other apart.

The basic construction is sold though; and you could easily add foam to the measurements and adapt it to suit on budget.

Cant watch the vid but going by the video picture

an easy fix would be to magnetize the bottom plate with a flat piece of sheet metal flashing and magnetize the bases. if you are worried about it rattling.

cool idea and use of cardboard for basic storage though.

That would very easily add to the budget though, if you plan on doing that I think using another tutorial might be better since the main point of this one is it's low budget. Then again, it is a very scalable thing but I'd rather just use foam for sensitive models.

For those who have got a few pick-foam trays you should have lots of spare soft foam cubes to but between models and the trays.

Cheers,
