Hi Folks,

I'm playing with Battle Scribe, because I think I'm going to take the plunge and buy the AM Codex. Because my interest in 40k may be returning. And I may become interested in playing in Tournaments. So I'm messing around with my collection, to see what I want to play and what I could add easily.

But, I don't know exactly how the whole Regimental Doctrine thing works, and I want to make sure everything jives.

So, if you could please tell me if the following organizational groups mess up the Doctrines, and how I could work around it, I'd appreciate it.

Battalion - Catachan

Company Commander
Tank Commander

4x Infantry Squads

Commissar
Master of Ordnance
Sergeant Harker
Special Weapons Squad

3x Armoured Sentinels

Heavy Weapons Squad
Manticore

Battalion - Tallarn

Company Commander
Primaris Psyker
Tank Commander

4x Infantry Squad

Crusaders
Ministorum Priest

Hellhound
2x Rough Riders

Batallion - Millitarum Tempestus

3x Tempestor Prime

3x Millitarum Tempestus Scions

Vendetta Gunship

With the Tallarn, I'm wondering if the Primaris, Ministorum Priest, Crusaders, or Rough Riders mess anything up?

With the Tempestus, does the Vendetta mess anything up? I could probably rejig into a Catachan detachment (Make it a Brigade), and a MT detachment, and a no-name detachment for the RR's and Crusaders and such, if they won't work. I could reshuffle things, is what I'm getting at.

The non-regiment units do not prevent you from claiming the benefit of the doctrines. However, they will not benefit from the doctrines or other buffs that specify regiments. They also cannot be ordered.

As the Vendetta is not a regimental unit (it is instead Aeronautica Imperialis) it can be taken just fine in the MT detachment. It also states that it's transport capacity is 12 Astra Militarum Infantry models, meaning any infantry from the codex (with the exception that heavy weapon teams take 2 slots and ogryn models take 3).

As for the list, I haven't looked much into a lot of the units and doctrines that you are using, but I do have to ask why you are taking three tempestor primes? They can take the tempestus command rod to replace their pistol which allows them to give out two orders each turn.

Vendetta sucks right now. In order to make it survive it needs to move. If it moves it drops from a 4+ to hit to a 5+, only 2 hits on avarage for a 200 point unit? I'll pass.

You'r Catachan are only a few models short from a brigade. Get it! Leman Russ tanks are good, Basilisk to.

Snykyninja explains it right, crusaders, commissar even tempestus units don't mess up a the Doctrines, but the don't benefit from it either. Good luck build up you'r list!

I own a Vendetta, is all.

I appreciate the knowledge folks! You’re right, I should make the Catachans a brigade. I’m going to blame that on a late-night error.

It’s about 2500 ish points, so I need to trim some fat to get to 2000 points. I was just grouping things based on what I wanted to do with them, but looking at the MT Doctrine, it kind of sucks.

Do Scions *have to* be MT doctrine, or can they be Tallarn, for example?

Tempestor primes with a second order is a good idea, Thanks!

Scions can be taken in any detachment, but won't benefit from doctrines. They only benefit from their own doctrines if they're in a mt detachment. The mt doctrine is actually really good, especially when deepstriking with plasma.
