I thought I would share this quick tip here because I cant remember ever seeing it mentioned in any beginner videos and its a crutch I have relied on heavily.
Keep a clean jar of water and a wet brush with you at all times. If you make a mistake and put a color down on the wrong area, quickly switch over to the wet brush and break up the paint. Then just keep dipping the brush in the water until you have broken all the paint up and aborbed all the water from the mini. This will probably still leave small residue patches that you will need tidying up but will save you many thin coats patching things up. Sorry if this is just common knowledge but I hope this can help some people. It saved me hours of time when I was painting the recesses on my white scars army.
