So I'm looking for a good really shooty army to hold me over till Sisters come out, and I've always been interested in IG, but I didn't want to go with normal Cadians to begin with because of how many I'd need to buy, so I started looking at Tempestus. I really like them from reading them, but I'm a little worried about the lack of hq options, especially if the 'max 3 of the same unit' gets out of beta. I'll probably end up getting normal IG somewhere down the road, but I wanted to start of with just this for now. Would it work enough by itself with to be worth it?

Gathering the Informations.

Maybe?

Honestly, if you're looking for something to hold you over--going 10 man squads with 3 Tempestors Primes, 3 Tempestus Command Squads, some Valkyries or Taurox Primes, and stuff like that...you'd have a fairly points heavy but small model count army.

Plus it'd look cool as hell.

I wish it was possible to do a Brigade while keeping their bonus.

This seems like a good place to ask: How would a Tempestus army based on Valkyrie's and Scions do? I'm not after tournament level good or anything just not awful.

You can and ive tried it. Its very doable, you just will have trouble claiming objectives. Ive made it work with A LOT of tauroxes. The gatling and hot shot tauroxes can put out a massive amount of shots, and having 8 on the table can really throw a wrench in anyone's game while your scions deep strike to take out hard targets like knights. The Autocannon/battle cannon is pretty good and stripping wounds and wrecking light vehicles as well.

Yea, my friend helped me make a list, it has 6 tauroxes; 3 with gatling cannons, 3 with the mini battle cannons so I can have some semblance of "heavy" support. It also has 2 vulchers each with the Heavy 40 gun lmao. Idk if they're good or not, but I like rolling a lot of dice at once.

Go keep up with Mordian Glory on YouTube. He is doing a series on how to do lots of and pure Tempestus Scions. It should work as an army. I am working on assembling some, and I hope I will have all the kits I want by the end of the year. Though, like MG notes, Scions are a different beast than regular IG.

If the truth can destroy it, then it deserves to be destroyed.

Scions are great, I always take 4 squads of 5 in my IG list. They have access to special weapons in reasonably priced squads.

do you mean Militarium Tempestus, or Legio Tempestus?

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Scions pack a lot of punch between their special weapons and loaded up tauroxes. The problem is that they need to get close to do work...which exposes them to a lot of fire if they mess up. A T3 4+sv model won't last long despite being 10pts. So long as you plan around that you should be good.
