Hello,

I'm getting back into AoS after a 6-7 year absence and would like some critique on my minimum model Nighthaunt army

Kurdoss Valentian, The Craven King

Guardian of Souls with Nightmare Lantern

Lord Executioner

2x5 Hexwraiths

2x3 Spirit Hosts

It all comes out to exactly 1000 with only 19 models. I could bump this up to 1500 with a Mortis Engine/Palanquin/Throne, a third unit of Spirit Hosts, and the Executioner's Hoard Battleline with 100 points left over for suggestions.

Please critique, I'm still not 100% with the new AoS rules and am sure I have some large holes in the lineup.

You won't have problems with this in a normal setting. Competitive meta not so much but that is a very different beast.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

What would be the focus for the competitive meta? That would at least help me build the army in the right direction.

I am not sure with Nighthaunt since they are still so new, but I suspect it would involve Olynder, Craven King, and Deathriders all being in the list. The reality is, though, that someone doing competitive death just uses Legions of Nagash since that battletome is so overpowered.

Spirit Torment and Guardian of Souls are my auto-picks for any Nighthaunt list.

Good tip, a couple Chain Ghasts + Spirit Torment boxes and a Chainrasp hoard or two were next on the list.
