I’m thinking of bringing a shadowsword to an event later this year, and so I am in the process of dusting off the mode, and it’s rules. I noticed the Primary Weapon Rule says that you can roll two dice and pick the highest for armor penetration, and on the explanation of D Weapons in the Age of Darkness book it says to roll on the chart for armor penetration. Does that mean my shadowsword gets to roll two dice on the D chart vs vehicles and pick the highest? RAW is seems to be yes, and RAI it seems to be a way of mitigating the chances of rolling a 1. Nope. The primary weapon rule gives a bonus when rolling for armor penetration, the destroyer chart is instead of rolling for armor penetration. No penetration roll is made, no bonus is applied. Primary weapon on destroyer weapons is a relic of earlier rules where it did matter.
